Ah yeah, when I'm traveling, it always seems like the drag-queens sans, makeup are working the window late at night.

The industry has really started over using that background music in that scene.

I'm so stoked! Vandenberg AFB is going to be launching the Delta IV Heavy Lifter rocket today. A 23-story rocket of manliness. I usually don't watch launches anymore, but this is the largest rocket they've ever shot. Anyone on the central coast should be able to see this w/o a problem. Hell I'd imagine parts of NorCal and SoCal could see it since it should leave a trail as large as the space shuttle.

It's set to launch in a window between 1:08-1:23pm. Jawesome!!

Depending on the trajectory, at worst (going south): 115-130 miles in clear daylight, at best (northish): up to 350 miles

This is based off of an old Minotaur launch that took place in 2000. This is a much smaller rocket, and it was viewable for quite a distance in the daylight.

@ulalaunch
The Delta IV Heavy NROL-49 launch time was moved to 1:10 p.m. PST to avoid an object in space.

Cool. That's why I ask. I was walking down the street from my apartment in downtown Sacramento when that thing flew over - exploded into the second stage and disappeared.

I had no idea what I had just seen. I just stood there and then looked at my girlfriend, and we both were completely stone faced and silent. hahah.

Haha, I imagined it would. I'm used to about 3 launches a month, mostly minutemen missiles but plenty of satellites too. It's still an amazing sight seeing the powah!!

Great launch. It was shot at a very southern angle so it even appeared somewhat dim to me. Went up at about 1:12 pm.

Thanks for the heads up Slocal. I tried to see it from Monterey with no luck, but the live feed was indeed jawsome.
