Is montreal in danger of missing the Playoffs?

With the amount of injuries they now have do you think it's possible that they slide out of the top 8 and not have enough to get back into it?

Not if they stick to the gameplan. Goalscoring was a problem anyways. This team is built on defense first, so they should be able to play .500 hockey to maintain their standing until bodies come back.

If they play .500 for rest of season they will have 92 points, so a bit better than .500 and they'd be in.

Theres always danger, the danger increases as the injuries to key players increase.

If we make a solid trade maybe we have more than 70% chance of making it.

There is not much of a race for 8th but I think Carolina could make a real push.

The East isn't really deep. I don't think there's danger of us missing the playoffs but it'll be another 7th-8th place finish.

Underwhelming season for sure.

Well there's only 9 Eastern teams in it this year & were better than Atlanta & Carolina. Yes! even injured, we have more depth & still have 1.7Mil to add a forward at deadline. No worries, worst case we finish 7th or 8th.

.500 hockey until bodies come back, not the rest of the season.

Fans on this board should be able to see that the players on the Habs have courage...

So cut them some slack if they drop a few more games here on in

(although there should never be any excuse for losing)

Still, there is enough seasoned talent on deck to keep winning...

(I'm looking at you Pools, Plek, Gio, Kosty and Gomez)

I think it'll be a struggle to finish with a decent seed now but I don't think the Canes are very good so I'm not that worried about missing the playoffs, unless they decide to tank (which will never happen in Montreal thankfully)

Habs seem to have the guys that can play during times of adversity. Plus JM's system will actually be perfect for this kind of situation. Need the vets to step up and the young guys need to seize the opportunity.

We are slightly better than Atlanta and Carolina.
Our division is weaker.
Carolina and Atlanta have to met each other 4 times until the end of the season, taking points from each other.

I will also say that with so many injuries, being that competitive, even if we're not spectacular, Martin is not that bad for a coach...

Thing about losing Cammy for a month is I can see us getting through it.

Max Pac on the other hand (I wouldn't have initially thought I'd feel this way) has brought a whole new dimension to Gomez's (and therefore Gionta's) game. I fear for how badly that line will be reduced to its pre-MP one dimensional play.

The other thing that has to be considered is that the AKs and Pouliots along with Ellers and Desharnais are quite capable of stepping up. They aren't useless pluggers and if anything are going to form the core going forward. We might end up doing better than .500 if these guys are on their game. Gionta just needs to bury a few more and we'll be fine.

I am not worried for some reason I trust these guys to pull it off even if they have issues scoring regularly.

Rangers will be missing Dubinsky for 3-4 weeks as well. Lots of teams around us have similar issues.

The thing that worries me is goal differential. Game after game we are just squeaking by the opposition and sit 14th in the league that department.

Then again, that might be a good sign. They have obviously learned how to win the close ones. It looks like another race to the wire again this year.

Exactly! Everyone goes through it. Crosby is out for 5#17 sakes.

Of course they are in risk however lets be honest, they were risking that with a healthy Cammalleri and Maxpac. They were also in danger of it while before Gorges went down.

We will see tho. Hopefully this actually rallies the team.

If one of Price (duh), Subban or Pleky get injured, we are screwed.

There's a chance that we'll miss the playoffs, but I think that we'll make it. I'd say our chances of making it are about 70% right now.

However, our chances of winning the division are almost certainly gone now. The odds were against us even before, of course, as Boston is having a great year, but those odds are probably insurmountable now.

We'll likely finish with the 7th or 8th seed in the East. Here's hoping we avoid the Flyers in the first round...
