Journal de Montreal: "PK steals the show at the ASG"

"PK vol le spectacle" (or something close was the Sunday headline)

I couldn't see the rookie game myself.

Was PK that good?

Can anyone provide details?

Thanks

He did steal the breakaway show if that's what the newspaper meant.

Subban isn't as widely known as Ovechkin so that's why he didn't win the breakaway contest.

Those southerners probably were trying to vote for skinner confused who this Subban guy was and just gave up and switched to Ovi

Ovi won by popularity, his tries weren't even that interesting, there was a couple of guys that showed more moves.

I'm not quite sure what you guys are referring to, as ovechkin's moves were the best ones. His upsidedown stick handle and flip the stick and deke fleury was nice. His batting out of mid air with the shaft was nice. Subban flipped a puck in the air, and while the creativity was there, he failed to hit the puck. Ovechkin should've won, but Subban displayed some good moves. The other guys weren't entertaining at all.

Really? Switching a jersey 'stole' the show? I found the entire contest to be pretty uneventful, as usual. Nobody converts on anything, its pretty lame. They should have let the rookies play in the actual game, they are allstars just like the rest of the people.

I agree about the all the failure on these trick moves,it's boring......Imagine if at MLBs allstar home run derby if nobody actually hit homers.

It would be better if they put a defenseman in between the forward and the goalie and you had to do your best move to get past the defenseman and score.

Did you forget his first attempt, when he flipped the puck in the air, circled around the back of the net, and smacked it out of the air on the other side?

I also think Ovechkin should have one, but P.K.'s first attempt was by far the best single attempt of that competition.

PK and Ovie were the best ones.. Ovie finished 1st and Subban 2nd.. so that's proof right there.

did he make contact with the puck and hit the post or was the noise simply his stick smacking the post?

It looked like he missed the puck to me.

It sounds like he hit the post with his stick, rather than hitting the puck. I don't know though, not a clear shot.

On Ovechkin's supposed amazing move
1) he didn't "deke" Fleury who was just lying on the ground
2) pretty sure most people on this board who play hockey could do that (not in the least impressive)

I thought Perry's lacrosse move required the most skill. And for those of you who can't scoop the puck onto your stick, Perry said that even Teemu Selanne can't do it after all these years!

He didn't do it the white way so he was only allowed three I guess he didn't realize he had another shot.

If you go by that logic, subban didn't deke fleury either. You could see fleury was even doing spinoramas when subban was coming down.

He was also doing push-ups, when Ovechkin was coming in for an attempt. He was having fun, just too bad we didn't really get to see much of his antics.

Looking at the clip, I'm still convinced he made contact with that puck on the first try. The attempt of hitting the puck between the legs, while switching to reverse skating was pretty nice as well.

I think this event should be eliminated. It fails every year. The only guys that can somewhat be entertaining are the ones that have a flamboyant personality.
Last year, Ovechkin made it good with his little canadian hat/sunglasses. This year, PK with the Jersey switch. But most moves by all players end up failing. How many of them mess it up??..Or should I say, how many of them complete them properly?

Either eliminate it, or find some way of letting the players practice prior to the game.

Thats a great analogy, its just demonstrating a bunch of failed attempts in this breakaway challenge.
