I heard he was thinking about Minnesota, since he played at Shattuck and likes the vibe here.

/sarcasm

I don't think he'll leave Pittsburgh just for the lulz. If he does, it'll be for a real reason, though I don't know what one might be.

I haven't read through any of this thread to be completely honest, but I think it's safe to say that he will be a Penguin for life unless something absolutely drastic happens.

A bit too hopeful, IMO.

He'll sign with the leafs and instantly become one of the worst players in the league.

we can dream about it, but ultimately I can't see him leaving Pittsburgh...

of course, anything can happen (see Gretzky), but with how that franchise has turned around with him as the centre piece, his status as the best player in the league (which is unlikely to change for the next decade, top 5 at least) and his relationship with the owner (Mario), I can't see a situation where he and the pens can't come to terms, or the pens feel the need to trade him.

That said, if he were to become dead set on leaving, Montreal would likely be his personal preferred destination (in canada, childhood dream)... so at least we would be at the top of the list!

I'll never forget that draft when there were 5 teams left and it looked like the habs had a real chance at getting the no. 1 pick and drafting him...Sid looked disappointed it came so close and didn't happen but Mario was there waiting with open arms. lol. keep in mind Sid was in the province and close to the habs playing in rimouski.

carey price was a nice consolation prize though

Probably be a pretty tough commute from Mario's house to the Bell Centre every couple of days. Or maybe he could move in with Guy Lafleur.

Well, he can stay in Pittsburgh where he'll be remembered forever as that really good player from that other sport, or he can go to Montreal where they'll build a statue of him next to Richard, Beliveau and Lafleur.

Tough choice really.

That being said, thank God that never happened. Price/Plekanec + Subban for Lecavalier would probably be up there as one of the biggest disasters in the Canadiens history.

On the subject though, I doubt Crosby goes to Montreal. Only chance i see it happening are the reasons mentioned in other posts (Pens crash, plays his final years in Mtl..etc). But in his prime, the pens will do everything to keep him, and rightfully so.

I don't know if you know this but Mario approached the Habs to finish his career with them. That was before he bought the Pens. The then President Ronald Corey said to Mario:"we can't afford you".

I'd still take that over cheering for a team that nobody wants to sign with.

I thought it was Higgins + Plekanec + Gorges for Vinny.

Doubtful.

He idolizes Steve Yzerman... and knowing that Stevie stuck it out with one team his entire career, Crosby will likely do the same. Besides, it'll only add to his legacy since it's so rare these days.

He's going to do the only thing Gretzky couldn't - bring a cup to LA. Thus solidifying himself as the greatest of all time. You'll all see.

Me too, at least when the trade was being reported thats what i was reading but i think when Gainey spoke about the trade after he stepped down I remember him mentioning that TB was infact asking for Price to be included and a prospect (that prospect potentially being Subban, not sure though).

At first I was already thinking that Higgins + Plekanec and Gorges was too much knowing that Vinny was having a bad season but when I heard Price would have been part of that package I thanked God it never happened/got interfered with by Bettman.
