Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #49 @ Carolina Hurricanes

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy

The Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who most exemplifies the qualities that Alex brought to the ice game in and game out. Most notable was his talent for wraparounds. Thusly, this award is given to the player who has the most wraparound attempts throughout the game.

The award tonight goes to Brian Boyle, Marc Staal, and Wojtek Wolski, all with 1 wraparound attempt against Carolina.

Don't think this lineup is good enough. Too bad, could cost the Rangers their playoff spot and it'll be hard to get it back when they're healthy.

Prust had a good fight and the only goal. Played solid so I'll vote for him. Kolarik is also deserving of some votes. Everything else, meh.

Wolski and Staal also had one wraparound attempt.

The Good: meh, Lundy I guess

The Bad: Chris Drury

The Redden: The Redden-esque contract of Chris Drury.

The Redden goes to the Staal - Girardi pairing, no way around that

Voted for this Brandin Prust fellow. He wasn't on the team tonight so he must've been pretty good.

The good: W2-Step-MZA
The bad: Defense sucked really bad tonight.
The redden: HFboards for very likely being unbearable until Dubinsky and Cally come back.

Both looked extremely slow tonight and were beat over and over. Gotta imagine some of it was due to fatigue from playing last night though they didn't exactly exert much energy in that win.

Player Of The Game

1A: Kolarik (Had some great chances, did everything on the ice, he could be a very valuable piece for the Rangers down the road)
1B: McDonagh (For his first assist!)
1C: Prust (For getting a goal while simultaneously giving 2 rookies their first NHL points)

2:.......

3:.......

The Wolski one at the end doesn't count. He moved towards the slot and it was too prolonged to count.

Wow, the Rangers had 40 shots on goal tonight. I can't believe that. Ward did play great and made the saves when he had to but none of the chances outside of the ones in the first period were that tough IMO.

The Good - Absolutely nothing. They had 40 shots, but that's not a positive when you can only finish on one.

The Bad - Everything.

The Redden - Defensive coverage.

Voted Prust.

Good: Effort was there for a good majority of the game. Especially the first.
Bad: Injuries. Team looks tired and worn, specifically Staal and Girardi.
Redden: Chris Drury

Player of the Game : Chad Kolarik

The Good : Kolarik & Prust

The Bad : Marc Staal

The Redden : The kindergarten classroom that is the RBC Center. Is there any other arena in the league that pollutes the air with more "sound effects" geared toward the mentality of a six-year old?

The good - Kolarik, Prust

The bad - Helped a team that is chasing us for a playoff spot

The Redden - Gaborik for following the now predictable pattern of not producing against the better teams.

The Good: Got a good look at Kolarik, W2-Step-Zucc continues to look good and create chances.
The Redden: Marc Staal absolutely shat the bed.

Cam Ward and Jeff Skinner = Ranger killers.
