Colin White to San Jose?

White would be a solid alternative if the Sharkies can't land Regehr. What would it take?

where is this stuff coming from? We don't want Regehr either, or White.

White is not better than anyone we have in our top-4, not significantly anyway. Regehr makes an already incredibly slow team slower.

So what would it take? an idiotic GM.

Have you seen White play the past few seasons? The guy is a rock defensively plus hes a very good leader. Hes most definitely an upgrade to Huskins and Wallin. If White was on the Sharks today he would be thier #4 dman maybe even #3 as hes easily on par with Doug Murray.

Just because they're an upgrade to Wallin/Huskins (and let's be real, that list is LONG) - doesn't mean the Sharks should do it.

They wait for the PMD/defensively responsible d-man they need or they roll with what they have. They don't need Regehr, White, or Beauchemin as much as you all would love to think, cause the Sharks aren't nearly as close to being cup contenders as they were last year or the epic 1st round fail against Anaheim year.

White is not better than Murray. He certainly isn't better than Vlasic, and Demers is a puck mover (which we need more of, not less).

Totally wrong for the Sharks.

Devils aren't interested in trading White for scraps. He's been a rock this season and made Mike Mottau look like a competent NHL defenseman.

Is he overpaid by $500k? Yes but compared to other contracts around the league his isn't nearly as bad.

He's been a great mentor for our young defenseman. One of the most underrated defenseman in the league in my opinion and I'm not nearly his biggest fan.

He'd be a great addition to a playoff contender looking to solidify their top-4 and was one of the few Devils who showed any sort of fire in the playoffs last season.

Besides, he has a NTC and I've heard he would only waive it for Montreal, which would make sense since Gorges is done for the year.

He's been very good this year. I don't think it's likely the Devils will trade him.

Colin White belongs on the Sharks because he and Heatley are the only 2 players in the NHL who employ the mega-visor.

Do you know what a puck-moving defenseman is? Well, that's what the Sharks need. Not White, definitely not Regehr and certainly not Beauchemin. Ugh. Everyone needs to stop it with these inane threads. You're clearly not a Sharks fan and have no idea about the team's needs. Why did you even start this?

Yeah, if the Sharks need a PMD, White is the absolute furthest thing from that.

We do have Andy Greene though who is fairly cheap and productive.

Yeah, Greene would be a decent option, although IMO DW should look to aim higher than that if he can.

To the poster who said White isn't better than Doug Murray, he's absolutely on par if not better defensively, even though his offensive game is non-existent.

He's a very, VERY good defensive defenseman and a top penalty killer. He used to be my favorite whipping boy but he's anchored this defense since Niedermayer left. I'm very comfortable when he's on the ice and think he's worth every penny of his contract.

That being said, the seller's market doesn't really favor defensive specialists. White has more value to New Jersey on the ice than he would get in a trade.

Besides, if we get rid of him our defense will be Volchenkov and 5 ballerina dancers.

White is honestly a quality player. Plays very good shut down defense. He's abysmal in the offensive zone only because he's not a good puck handler nor does he have a good shot. Regardless, he's not going to do anything in the offensive zone that'll really screw the team up, like an errant pass that leads to a breakaway. He's a very safe and smart player.

I guess you haven't seen Murray? He blocks shots, plays physical and does whatever he can to stop a goal. He is SOLID defensively.
