First week of my quasi-watching carbs diet...I still eat a bowl of cereal in the morning because damnit, I can't function without a bowl of cereal in the morning. But other than that, trying to keep carbs to a minimum I've taken off about 5 pounds in a week. I'd like to lose 5 more to take off the Thanksgiving/Christmas weight.
Since the beginning of January I've also been doing 2.5 miles 3 times a week on the treadmill- however thanks to school meetings this week I have not been able to get to the gym. Once things settle down next week I should be able to get back into the routine.
Has anyone here heard of the 'pickle ornament?'
I had never heard of this but its really a neat idea- though I plan on changing what the ornament is to execute the concept in my household
The concept: Hang a pickle ornament w/ all the other ornaments on the tree. Christmas eve- when the kids are asleep- hide the ornament somewhere else on the tree and who ever finds it gets to open an extra present- perhaps a present for the whole family, or all the kids, etc, etc- concept is malliable at that point.

Clock and I got one as a present this Christmas and I was ecstatic!
It's German tradition and we are both German so it's perfect.
I hid it on one of the trees this year, but alas, we had no kids to find it.

Bah. My mom is supposed to come visit me tonight, and she's from Orleans County. I bet she cancels. Bah humbug.

We did the piickle, but no extra present. Neat idea though, we'll try it next year.
Everything should be fine. I get the weekend to myself. I just can't wait til Monday when I can go back on my meds (6 weeks of being really tired is enough, especially with school starting) but overall, thyroid cancer is the best type to get so I am rather lucky. They probably should have done this 1.5 years ago anyways (when I had my thyroid removed) but with thyroid standards constantly changing...
Thanks! I appreciate the sentiments from everyone.

My mom implemented this when we were teenagers. Meh. We have one on our tree, but don't do any of the extra stuff.
If you start it when the kids are... well, kids, it's probably pretty neat.

I definitely plan to wait until the kids are asleep to hide the "pickle" somewhere else. In my experience the "concept" isn't too malleable at that point.
I'm finishing up week 3 of P90x, which means next week is recovery week. More Yoga, core synergistics, light cardio stuff. I'm excited to rest for a bit and let my body do some rebuilding. Belly is starting to flatten up.
Gotta recommend this sucker if you want to get your ass kicked in a good way.
Felt sore from yesterday but did another 4 mile walk today; plan on starting to run next week whether the doc allows me to or not
