Wonderful start to the day - I brought my school bag instead of my work bag in today, so I don't have my laptop or my lunch. Yes.

Thanks all. Today should be fun as I will be putting my two weeks notice. If my current job decides they want to keep me around (or shows interest) I have a pretty long list of demands which includes a 40% raise (this year, with another 20% raise on top of that next year), no longer reporting to my current boss, a severance package, being able to work from home 1 day a week, and a brand new macbook pro.

...yeah, I'm not going to be staying at my current job. But if they ask, I'm ready.

That's what you get for having too many purses.

Don't take any counteroffers, Doaklets. They'll probably can you as soon as they can and you'll never trust them / they'll never "trust" you ever again.

Seriously. The upside of this is that I have no meetings today after my morning status / defect reporting jazz, so I'll leave the clients' site after those and head home.

Meh. I honestly don't think they'll accept my laundry list. It's purposefully over the top. Either way, they will probably balk at even matching what I was offered. However, IF lets say I get a counteroffer, I am getting some sort of insurance against getting fired/laid off built in like a severance package. But, remember, this is a company with hubs in the network closet. They aren't going to even come to bat.

Annnd it's done. My boss knew this kind of thing was coming down the pipe based on our last conversation we had about salary, so he just congratulated me and asked when my last day was. So my last day, next friday

So I got a call from one of the resumes I sent out a few weeks back. Yup once they described things to me I didn't even set up an interview. It'd be a cut in pay and I'd pay more for insurance while having worse hours. I would have loved if they would have called me for the position I applied for and not one 2 levels below what I applied for.

In good news, your employer won the best burger award or something. ( I heard it on the radio this morning. )

They also said that based on salary ranges, the favorite burger joints:

20k-40k - McDonalds
40k-60k - Burger King
60k+ Wendy's

And although my salary is in the last bucket, I still love McDonalds the most. Nom nom nom nom!

I'm heading down to the Leafs/Sabres game Feb 5. However, that same night there's a big UFC PPV which starts at 10pm. I know in Toronto/Canada UFC is very popular and pretty much any sports bar you go to always has the Saturday night PPV fights playing. I was just wondering if the same is true in Buffalo. Does anybody know of any bars near HSBC that will be showing the fights?

It would be pretty impossible to get from HSBC Arena after the game to a bar in Niagara Falls Ont. without missing the vast majority of the fights on a regular night crossing the border let alone on a night when the border crossing will be jammed packed with Leafs fans trying to cross at the same time.

Only think I am waiting on is to get official word on the bennies/vacation. I have notified the school I am interviewing with that i have a job offer in my pocket hoping that will rush things along on that front.

Either way, no matter what happens, I am going to get at least 30% more a year.

I've sort of got a job. 30 hour renewable contract doing IT work at my wife's job. It's not ideal but it'll be experience, at least.

So I have a teammate at work who I am switching roles with starting, well, yesterday. So to break him into what I do, we gave him literally the most idiot-proof thing we could find... and he proved that nothing is truely idiot-proof. I have spent a small portion of my day wondering, "How can someone close over 30 requests WITHOUT DOING ANY OF THE ****ING WORK?!?!" We have enough to do, supporting a massive entity with a bunch of off bureaucratic hoops to jump through... the last thing I need is trying to babysit this guy while he generates more work for all of us by screwing up the one thing he was given to do. We're brutally short-staffed, but he's more trouble than he's worth, honestly. And it's year-end review week. Way to get that low-man-on-the-pole review, buster!
