Poor Nabby. I wanted him to go to an East Coast team so he wouldn't come back and destroy the Sharks...but still...NYI...oh boy.

Wanted to see how far he'd make it in the order. Disappointed now.

Isles just trolled the rest of the league.

If he chooses to not play, does he still get paid?

This is just an idiot-move by Islanders...I would have expected it from teams around playoffs-spots. But this is idiotic

What a joke, the Islanders are easily the worst managed franchise currently in the league.

So the Islanders don't want a top 3 pick?

You don't pick up a world class goalie and hope for the lottery draft...

God, Nabakov has a NMC. He cannot be traded unless he waives it.

He must hate it, his value could go down after playing a few months with the isles. Lower pay check next season..

The islanders take themselves out of a lottery pick (or probably will), and they can't turn and trade him, so the point of this was... ?

Unless they plan on trading their 1st for already proven talent and don't want it to be a top 3 pick, then why ?

Now, come trade deadline, anyone think he waves his NMC to go to a contender? You know, use Islanders as a stepping stone to show he can still play in the NHL. I am just happy the Wings didn't get him. And as a from the previous thread, seems like the Islanders didn't care to screw over the Wings like some were saying. Guess Holland will have it out for Snow now.
The Islanders are not going to go through all this trouble, just to trade him in 4 weeks.

I mean really...
There are a lot of factors involved. Hindsight's fantastic, but the Gonchar signing at the time was an excellent move, the fact that he's playing like he is is shocking, hard to see that coming. Hard to take the time to dissect it on a trade by tradem signing by signing basis, but Murray did what he had to do with Heatley, the team looked charged after that, made the POs in 5th, then hit a brick wall this year. Hard to see any of that coming, really hard.

Good, contending teams should not just be allowed to add key players at any time. Also makes the Isles somewhat a legit NHL club now.

The Islanders can't trade Nabokov without him going through waivers again. That pretty much confirms Garth Snow does NOT have any plans to move him.

No, but from a sens perspective its a perfect situation if any team lower then them in the standings claimed him, which the isles did

Poulin and Lawson can be sent down without clearing waivers. That means that Detroit won't get a chance to pick up a goalie.
