Det and Phi

To Philly: Jiri Hudler

To Detroit: Michael Leighton and a pic (to be negotiated, maybe a 3rd?)

Hudler is a Leino type of player and the Flyers could strike gold again.

Wings get their backup and a bit of cap room.

Might not work on the Philly side re. cap

The value is close but the Wings wouldn't do this as the Flyers might be a team they could meet in the Finals

I'd have to say, keep dreaming....only reason, the wings wont let another lieno situation happen.

Huds is here to stay and is starting to get some scoring touch back. The RW arent that stupid

Gonna quote myself from another thread here.

We can get a backup goalie for less and not sacrifice forward depth.

I dont think Hudler woud really gel with this current Flyers roster, we dont need another "scorer."

Red Wings and Tampa Bay would make good trade partners me-thinks.
Theyve got about 8 back-up goalies down there.
Roloson, Ellis and Smith.
Im sure one of those guys could be had to help out the depth at G. (esp. with a defense in front of them)

In a heartbeat. But why would the Red Wings do the Flyers any favors after they gifted Leino to them?

From a Philly standpoint I'd do this in a heartbeat but there is no way on hell that the Wings do this simply because Leighton would have to clear re-entry waivers before the Wings could call him up and they'd run the risk of losing him to another team just like they did Nabby but the difference here would be that they'd be on the hook for half of Leightons salary for the rest of this season AND next season.

From a Flyers perspective I'd do this in a heartbeat.

Wouldn't Leighton have to go thru re-entry waivers?

So either philly brings him up and the wings snag him for free or the wings have to bring him up and lose hudler and possibly Leighton on re-entry?

Leighton > Backlund who is never healthy.

itll probabley be more like:

Leighton > some random 2 day contract for a college goalie

Leighton stays in the ahl, because no one take him in a trade. The risk they loose him in re entry is to high.

I would love to see him go and get a chance to show it wasn´t a fluke last year.

And we get rid of his salary
