Byron & Ellis
Per Chris Roy's Twitter.

I'm pretty excited to see what Byron can do and Ellis's work ethic is also much appreciated on a team with a dearth of it.

I wouldn't mind seeing them try plugging Byron between Vanek and Pommer. Not much to lose at this point.

Gerbe would be the power forward for that line.

Another mini-mite!
Bakes was saying the other day that with his play in Portland the Sabres owed it to themselves to see what Byron had. Let's see what he can do.

I always loved Byron when he played for Gatineau, and secretly wanted the Habs to make a minor deal to get him. I hope he does well during his stay.

Glad to see both of them up, but somewhat disillusioned that the Sabres didn't call up even more defensemen. I thought I had them figured out.

It'll be interesting to see what Byron can do.
I didn't think he looked very effective in his limited action and role in the preseason, but he's been doing pretty well in Portland.
So does he become our #1 center now?

Excited to see Byron play. I remember in pre-season when he put Phaneuf on his ass

No, he's in the lineup tonight for Portland.
I'm glad they didn't recall him again since he's already been recalled four times.
Just let him play in Portland instead of constantly going back and forth.
He's a 20 year old rookie.

We have zero depth at this point. Byron is a nothing who will likely never be an NHL player. He's not talented enough or strong enough. I admire the guy for what he did in junior but he'll never cut it in big leagues.

Actually, talent is why he's even in the AHL or got a call-up.
It's almost purely his size that is what's stopping him. And he's not built like Gerbe is, nor as speedy.

Is Byron seriously 5'9" and 144 lbs? At that height/weight, he's almost thin enough to used as a damn hockey stick.

He's probably less than 5'9, but the weight is probably close. He seriously looked like a 16 year old kid at prospects camp. Not the you-can-tell-he's-not-16-but-he-looks-it way either... he REALLY looked like someones kid.
