Red Wings recall Cory Emmerton, who'll make NHL debut in place of Valtteri Filppula (flu)

Quote:
The Detroit Red Wings have recalled forward Cory Emmerton from the Grand Rapids Griffins. He will make his NHL debut today against the Chicago Blackhawks at Joe Louis Arena (2 p.m., FSD).

Center Valtteri Filppula is out with the flu.

Emmerton, 22, was Detroitís first choice (41st overall) in the 2006 entry draft. He ranks among Griffins leaders with 17 assists (third) and 23 points (tied for fifth) in 33 games, despite missing 12 games due to injury in December.

Filppula should be ready for the next game, Wednesday at home against New Jersey. For now, he's added to a long list of idled Red Wings: Mike Modano (lacerated wrist), Pavel Datsyuk (broken hand), Danny Cleary (broken ankle), Brad Stuart (broken jaw), Chris Osgood (hernia surgery) and Tomas Holmstrom (broken hand).

good, I was wondering about the GDT. I'm very happy to get to watch a wings game live, I've been definetly working too much the last couple of months...

well, let's see what our decimated team will do against the Chi-town-boys.

Go Wings!!!

Woho, prime time game for swedish people and also on a channel most people get, too bad its against the team i hate the most when the wings' got the most injuries, half the team are ahl-players whilst the hawks are healthy, could be an ugly one.

I'll say it right now, howard with a soft goal early on.

I never give a negative prediction, but I can't help it this time. I see Chicago's top 2 lines dominating us in this one. Unless Howard has a game like he had in Vancouver, then I think we'll lose this game by a few goals.

So an afternoon game, with a depleted squad against a division rival? Thank god it's not on Versus or that would be the trifecta of fail.

I'm not saying I don't want a win. But...must win? We're secure in the top 3 of the conference. The next team in our division, is Nashville who are 6 points behind us. Yeah, it would be nice to win against a division rival. But nothing major will happen if we lose today.

That being said...please beat Chicago.

Let's Go Red Wings!

5-2 Hawks.

Our top lines will be stifled. Our bottom lines will shine. Our defense will scramble shift after shift.
