Damn, I didnt even check this site until I now where I just made the GDT thread. I didnt know it was Markstrom who came up, my bro just texted me from the game. Now I really wish I kept the tickets to this game.
Markstrom definately is not ready yet, he needs more AHL games. If Vokoun allows weak goals, those Markie allowed today were super-weak... So for trading Vokoun - he's going nowhere, because there isn't any team out there who needs him more than Panthers.

Why do we need him?
It doesn't sound like we are aiming for the playoffs in the near future.
And who do you ride then? Clemmer - Markstrom? Clemmer - Plante? Wow, with this one we would maybe win the award for the most pathetic goaltending tandem of the year Really, Clemmer is no way #1 goalie and Markstrom is better suited to finish season in Rochester with heavy workload rather than warm the bench.
There is almost non-existant market for goalies right now and we would fetch almost nothing for Vokoun (salary dump and some not-1st round draft pick probably). If you don't want to tank for the rest of the season, there is probably no other option than to keep him.
P.S. I don't believe in scenarios, where Vokoun goes to Ottawa or Edmonton - there is no reason for that, they are even worse than Panthers this year. He wants to go to contender. And I don't think there is contending team, who would be willing/have cap space to go out and acquire him. If this is the case, best scenario for Vokoun is wait for the UFA market.

Does it matter? We're not making the playoffs with any goaltender. Thus, you could be our goaltender, for all I care. No playoffs is no playoffs. If you're not going to make the playoffs, you might as well lose...a lot.
I thought Markstrom did well, though he looked nervous. I'd still prefer he stays down, though. If they xo move Vokoun out, I'm sure theyll bring in another goalie to fill in. I do wonder if they were giving him a look to see how he'd do.

Tallon said Markstrom's going to need another half year in the AHL NEXT YEAR. If Vokoun gets traded, a goalie will definitely be signed during the offseason.

Unless they decide to go with Clemm and Plante.....

although im fine with that, where did you see this? i saw an article that said another half year but i assumed it meant the rest of the year, so maybe i misunderstood it.
