Montreal - Anaheim

Montreal

Picard

for

Anaheim

Brookbank

I think Brookbank would be a help on the blueline for the Habs as they might want the toughness on the backend for possible playoffs. I think Montreal has their offense with Subban, Wisniewski, Weber, and somewhat Hamrlik and Spacek. Gill is pure shutdown along with Hamrlik and Spacek. I think the Habs could use a tough dman for rest on some nights when for say a Spacek or Weber. This could help when we play a big tough team like Philly.

I think Picard would be a player that could fit in well in Anaheim's system. He can make decent outlet passes, but his vision on the ice isn't always the best. He is still young though and RFA and is on a cheap contract as well.

Brookbank was a decent #6 last year but has been terrible this season. With him gone I'd be happy. He is wasting a spot on our roster. He may work in montreal.

I really don't know anything about Picard but I still say sure why not.

echo...

dont know a lot about picard but from the description you gave sounds like they are similar players so it would be a "change of scenery" type of thing.

Offensive minded dman
25 years old
6'3 215lbs

31gp 3g 3a 6pts +/- +1

Last year in contract RFA at the end
600k for this year and his contract is up

I think he would fit in with Anaheim very well with the vets they have in place.

Montreal needs a possible #6-7 dman and I think Brookbank is it. We have too many dman like Picard with offense. Especially with Subban, Wisniewski, and Weber all joining. I think Brookbank would be the shutdown gritty dman we need on nights against say Philadelphia or New York. We could replace Weber with Brookbank to also have some fresh legs going. I think he is a perfect fit for the Habs and the same for Picard to Anaheim.

He would be offensive with Fowler and Visnovsky and then Lilja, Mara, Sutton, Sbisa and Lydman more defensive.

One of the more reasonable trades I have seen on the boards in awhile.
I think both teams would actually do this trade!

Now theres a deal that actually makes some sense. Although I dont see Brookbank dressing for Habs very often he would make perfect depth dman. Would propably mean the end for Mathieu Carle.

This is kind of what the Habs want right now. Picard has fallen to that role because we have a lot of dmen like him. If we have the opposite in Brookbank, he is gritty and tough, he would be the perfect guy for us, to come in when needed.

Both fan bases are way to optimistic with this deal. There must be something wrong.

I think this basically means none of the 2 should actually be playing in the NHL.

I know I'm not at all in favour of acquiring Brookbank - even at the great upside of getting rid of Picard - if that means Brookbank actually ends up playing games with the Habs.

What about a 7th round pick in 2015 for Picard. Deal?

I can vouch for 1/2 of the players... Brookbank shouldn't be playing in the NHL.

Montreal has no need for him, absolutely none.

Actually, apart from your amazing untradable youth core, I don't think any of Anaheim's available pieces would make the Habs better. Probably more the other way around (see Lapierre, Chipchura trades).

heck yes. Ducks can just not give Picard his qualifying offer after this season and he is off the books. Montreal would be stuck with Brookbank on a one-way contract for next season.

Never seen a trade get so many 'hell yes's' from both sides before.

Good proposal.

I'm not sure Habs fans realize they would be stuck with Brookbank for next year. The timing would be quite horrid as well considering they'll probably need all the space they need if they want to keep at least 2 of their "big-3" (Markov, Gorges, Wiz).

I wouldn't do it personally, not a good deal for Montreal. Again, Picard for a 7th rounder in 2015 is all I'm asking.

That seems reasonable. No real need for a defenseman like Picard right now though, just really want to get rid of Brookbank. I was surprised to see how many Habs fans liked this, is Picard doing that bad?

The thing is Habs really don't need an AHLer on a 1-way contract either. The 2 Habs fans you're referring to are probably just thinking about getting rid of Picard without realizing he, at least, gets off the books this summer.
