.... Where's Colorado's 1st in the deal? Fisher will warrant at least a first + prospect from some franchise.... and besides the point, Colorado has 3 really good centres (Stastny, Duchene, O'Reilly) and really doesn't need a 4th.

We don't need another center.

I apologize on behalf of Sens fans. Not all of us massively over value our players.

Fisher is arguably a better winger than he is a center, he plays better when he has less responsability. With a very young and fairly soft avalanche team he will bring you a hard nosed style of play and would fit in seamlessly with a young core.

All of this is of course equally true of 22 year old winger T.J Galiardi. Avs should trade for him.

Wait a minute...

Its all about experience, colorado has a good YOUNG and INEXPERIENCED team with the exception of Foote and Hejduk. Both those guys will be UFA's at the end of the year and most likely Hejduk will not be back. Does Fisher replace Hejduk? no, not really but he does bring leadership, skill, and toughness to a team that has already in my opinion put the right young core in place with stasney, duchene, stewart, oreilly to name a few.

By design. It's a rebuild. Sherman has in his tenure as GM not signed/traded for a skater older than 26.

Galiardi fits perfect with Avs rebuild. A 30-year old center in Fisher does not.

Even though the Avalanche desperately need defense...yes please. Sorry, Gali.

Craig Anderson: age 29 at time of signing
David Koci: age 28 at time of signing
Stephane Yelle: age 35 at time of trade

Andy is not a skater. Koci's an enforcer and Yelle is an ex-Av that Avs probably more signed with a view to a non-playing future than anything (he is a scout atm).

If we wait a week you might add Forsberg to that list and it would still not be an indication that Avs would divert from rebuilding and sign Fisher.

You forget that Fisher comes with an accessory...and a fine one with that.

value is more than fair, fisher is more effective than galiardi right now, if we were in a win now for colorado i'd have no problem with it, however we are a couple years from making some noise, 1 at least, it'd probably be better to hold on to galiardi for a bit.
