Sj-la

yes i know theyre in the same division, but deals like this can be worked out under good circumstances, which we have.

To San jose
Ryan Smyth
3rd round pick

To LA
Tommy Wingels
2nd round pick

This deal happens at the trade deadline if LA is out of the playoffs and Lonbardi trys to sell off some vets.

Smyth brings leadership and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get that W in the PO, which SJ needs. he'd play with thornton and Marleau/Heatley/Seto and pick up the garbage in front of the net. he might also be the vet that brings consistency back to Seto's game.

And yes i know Sj needs a top 4 defenceman more then another Forward. And yes i know thats a HUGE caphit for next year. But we drop Wallin and huskins. Take 3.2m off his cap hit. The caps expected to go up and a bunch of other factors.

This also gives us another top 9 which allows us use a younger top 9 as trade bait.

Smyth is one of the only guys scoring for LA right about now.. Considering their scoring woes, I can't see this happening.

Smyth is headed for 30+ at this point.

IF the Kings are out of it....they are going to be able to net more for Smyth.

Who the hell is Tommy Wingels and why are we giving a 3rd rounder?

As a Sharks fan sure (although any cap space we do have might be better used to upgrade the D), but I see no reason at all that the Kings would consider doing this.

If the Kings fall out of the playoff picture anymore, I'm sure they could do better for Smyth than that.

I wouldn't do this as a Sharks fan because what the hell? Where are you planning on slotting Smyth in anyway? We'd have 8 top-6 at that point...

If we are making a trade with LA its sending them Heatley or Seto (because they need goal scoring) and they are sending us JJ. That's it, there's nothing else that makes any kind of sense between the two teams (unless you know, they are really sick of that Doughty guy).

I am a bit of a closet King's fan too. Only other team in the league I'd actually be excited to see win the cup.

Would take a hell of a lot more than Wingels and a 2nd for Smyth. Wingels has little to no trade value.

Excellent. I've been ashamed of this and I was fully ready to become a Kings fan also if Marleau went there. Man I'm messed up.

I wonder what we could get from LA for Heatley, though, seriously.

Yeah, the preposition is beyond idiotic. I don't even want Wingels.

I just wanted to mention that it's funny that a few years back everyone was saying Smyth for Marleau, and at this moment in time, they have the exact same GPG with Smyth in only a few more games.

Um, no. First of all, why would the Kings do this? Secondly, the cap doesn't even work anyway and the last thing the Sharks need is another aging, slow, past-his-prime forward. Awful proposal. Kings aren't moving Doughty or JJ so I don't see the potential for any SJ/LA trades.
