Not on trade committee, but moving anywhere from 10-35 picks back to gain over a 200 pick gain is craziness.

Must be a good trade then. There are opinions that EACH side has won then.

It's a reasonable trade off.

I posted the trade and went away for a few minutes, didn't see the pick number request, hadn't even thought about it actually. Sorry for the inconvenience. It's only my 2nd trade ever here. I wasn't aware of the rule, but I see how it helps.

Yes, but considering the location of the picks (17th round is an elite 4th liner or #6 defenseman, 23rd round is a throwaway), I don't think it's that bad. As the draft goes along, the later rounds become worth less.

I think it's fine. I was just making a principled stand for other GMs to make the job of the administrators easier.

No problem. It probably should have been posted in the Original Post somewhere, rather than buried in the discussion like it has been.

I don't blame GMs not involved in trades if they don't want to read this thread.

At this point in the draft, I don't know of any player worth trading up that few spots is worth exchanging a strong bottom-6/bottom pairing player for a throw away player. Whatever though, I doubt this trade will make a big difference in the long run.

Also, can you please post the trade in this format:

team name: picks numbers

I am not going to go hunting down which team each GM belongs to.

I think this deal is pushing it, but I vote against a veto.

Yeah, it's a terrible trade, but I'm probably the only one who would bother veto'ing it, so I won't bother. There's a very clear winner, there.

That's 28 now for 212 later. I wouldn't veto it. It looks more like a return you'd get for trading from 50th to 88th, or something. But still, not veto-worthy. the peace of mind of getting the guy you want is worth something.

No one said anything when I paid 296 for 134... actually, yeah, I see that's not as "bad" and was probably considered a lot more even.

With all that said, if trades like this one pass, I want to use my last two trades to be the San Jose in deals like this.

I'll be away for the next 10 hours, but I have an offer for anyone OTC:

OTC pick - 25th round pick (between 961 and 1000)

FOR

557 - 564

On the condition that the player I want his available. 70's and Jarek know who I want. I will gladly take the hour reduction if necessary!

Offer valid until my return on the Internet (roughly 10 hours)

Cya!

I get roasted for giving up a 17th rounder in trade and you want to give a 14th and 15th!!!!!!! for 11th and 25th??????

Three rounds now for TEN (10) as soon as round 15 (a quality player, a 3rd liner or 3rd pairing starting blueliner!

Expect to get roasted.

IF he gets a pick that will be on the clock shortly, it becomes something close to 150 spots now for 450 or so later.. a MUCH more balanced trade. This is a SIGNIFICANT move up.

If, somehow, it gets to pick 454, EB is still gone, no one else has taken the bait, and his guy is still available, I will take this trade. I like the value. It's similar to what I traded to move up, so it would bring me back some equilibrium.

Unfortunately, 427 is a must for me.

The offer is still valid until I wake up tomorrow, basically 10 hours.

I'm not offering that package for pick #454. Basically, if I don't get a pick in the next 10 hours, this offer will be off the table.

Looking to move up from 492, the higher the better but I'll consider any offers as long as a certain few guys are on the board.
