Lundin and Malone have been placed on IR which is just paperwork to give team roster flexibility; there is a chance Thompson returns Tuesday

Anything between 'ready for the playoffs' and 'out for the season' is possible.

Also, injured Mike Lundin and Ryan Malone skated in warm-up gear this morning, encouraging but neither are close to returning #tblightning

D Mike Lundin apparently is getting closer to returning. Boucher said Lundin, who will miss his eighth game tonight with what is believed an abdominal injury, likely will practice with the team next week. A timetable to get him back on the ice will be determined from those workouts.

Malone is supposedly making solid progress and *could* return before season's end, so said Peckham during the first period tonight.

Before the end of the season apparently! Yay!

Quote:
Tampa Bay Lightning coach Guy Boucher said he expects W Ryan Malone, who today will miss his seventh straight game with what is believed a stomach muscle injury, should be back by the beginning of April, coach Guy Boucher said. Because of that, the coach added, he did not believe the team will make a major move for a forward before Monday's trade deadline.

"Once Malone is back we have everything we need," Boucher said. "If we get something else, it will be depth."

He did add this, though, about general manager Steve Yzerman: "Steve has been so smart, he's going to outsmart my comments right now."

#tblightning Mattias Ohlund will not play today, 2nd straight game out with lower body; Lundin, however, is close, perhaps Wed or Thurs

I suppose that's the one positive you can take from having these guys injured. When they come back it's like getting a top 4 D and a Top 6 forward for nothing, and they'll be fresh...

Here's hoping they can come back in time to get their feet under them, and get back to game speed...

Right now, we are just skimming the surface of how dangerous a team we can be...

Veteran D Mattias Ohlund missed his second consecutive game with an undisclosed lower-body injury but isn't expected to be out for an extended period.

Boucher said Ohlund is just a few days away, and with Tampa Bay off until Wednesday, he could be ready to return when the Lightning face the Devils or on Thursday in Boston.

Any info on MSL from today's game? I know that his x-rays were negative but it could still keep him out a game or two.

Marty won't miss any time. This is Marty we're talking about.

Marty could be in a wheelchair with two broken arms and he'd still play.

Did the Lightning practice today? Any word on St. Louis? All I could find was this, which was updated yesterday.

News: St. Louis underwent X-rays on his left forearm after blocking a shot Sunday against the Rangers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Spin: The X-Rays came back negative, but St. Louis was reportedly in significant pain after the game, so this situation bears monitoring. He potted a goal and added an assist during the game.

Marty wont miss a game, he may play a bit less, but I really doubt he misses any time. Earlier in the season he had to have blood drained from a toe injury twice on game day to get his skate on. Still played

Yep, he's practicing:

And before anybody asks, yes, Marty St Louis is practicing (took puck off left forearm Sunday afternoon) #tblightning #NHL
Also, Ohlund's on the ice, Lundin is not:

Whoops, spoke too soon, Mattias Ohlund is practicing - - - so only Lundin missing among those expected to be on the ice #tblightning

Sorry if I don't see it but I can't find a damn thing about Martin's arm injury. What's the deal?

Just read the posts above. He took a puck to the arm and had to undergo x-rays. He was practicing last night, so he might be fine.
