That's still not a link.

Jones is apparently now the one with a high ankle sprain, so 6-8 weeks would be expected.

It's never good with injuries (Jones) but...Hedman, Brewer, Lundin and Clark are all more important, so while it's a blow it could be worse *knock on wood*

While Jones, who was walking around on a crutch with his left ankle heavily wrapped before Friday's game, is not expected to be back before the end of the regular season, RW Steve Downie is inching his way back to getting on skates.

Downie has been out since March 3 with what Boucher called "two lower-body situations'' and though he is not yet back on skates, Downie was playing a game of 1-on-1 basketball with team assistant athletic trainer Mike Poirier in the morning.

Boucher said that Downie could be back on the ice as soon as next week.

Time frame on Malone is @ two weeks, I'd put over/under at March 31 for a return to the lineup; he's traveling to skate w/ team + treatment

Guy Boucher says D Randy Jones (ankle) won't play again in regular season. Sounds like getting him back for playoffs a bonus.

Ryan Malone (stomach) says still has some discomfort but about 75-80 percent. Still hopeful he will be playing by April.

On the injury front, Boucher said right wing Steve Downie, who will miss his seventh game tonight with ankle and knee problems, should be available to play by the end of next week.

Boucher is still sticking with April for Ryan Malone, who will miss his 16ht game tonight with a torn stomach muscle. "We're getting there slowly," Boucher said. "But you know how it is, once we get them, somebody else will be out."

Happy news for a change of pace.

LightningTimes Damian Cristodero
Downie skated about 15 minutes after practice. Malone longer. Boucher hopes Downie by Fri, Malone a week later. Gagne maybe Tues vs. Isles.

Another step: Ryan Malone and Steve Downie skating at a small practice and without red jeseys.

Just hope they aren't pushing to come back sooner than they should.

Per EE
Lecavalier has no structural damage to his right eye. He will be a game time decision tomorrow and is day-to-day.

Now just get Marty to wear a visor. It truly is amazing how he hasn't been completely whacked/blind yet as much as he gets hit with flying sticks.

"If he's comfortable, he'll play," GM Steve Yzerman said. "If he's got discomfort, because it is his eye, he won't." Lecavalier will wear a visor, something he had discarded because he said it hinders his vision.

"(Siedlecki) wants me to play with it the rest of the season to protect it," Lecavalier said. "As for keeping it permanently, I don't know. I'll have to try it again this summer and see how it feels. The smart thing to do would be to wear one, for sure."
Quote:
"Right now, I couldn't play," Lecavalier said Monday after being examined by Sabres team ophthalmologist Andrew Siedlecki. "It's blurry, and when I try to focus, it's tough. It's easier with sunglasses. But I might wake up (today) and be fine."

V4 would look sick with a tinted visor.

It's weird too that Prospal ditched the visor, what, last year? He's been a visor guy pretty much his entire career. It's odd to see him play without one.
