Panthers cleaning house

I'm dubious that the Panthers would trade Weiss, however I am sure nearly all of our players are available.
So who wants what?

Deal. I'd be willing to even throw in future considerations for Kulikov

The Panthers are ready to clean house. GM Dale Tallon wants to follow the model he used to make Chicago a Stanley Cup champion ó beginning with clearing out veterans. G Tomas Vokoun, LW Cory Stillman, and RWs Radek Dvorak and Rostislav Olesz are all being shopped Keep an eye on C Stephen Weiss, an attractive option with a $3.1-million hit and two years left on his contract. Sources say the clubís top scorer is available and attracting plenty of interest ... The Flyers could decide to bring in another goalie as insurance behind Sergei Bobrovsky and Brian Boucher. Donít expect a repeat performance from last seasonís playoff hero, Michael Leighton. After clearing waivers, he will remain in the AHL. If the Panthers decide to move Vokoun, Philly could be interested. Itís highly doubtful Vokounís going to re-sign with Florida ...
The relevant part of the article so as to have less people give the Ottawa Sun hits.

Also, it obviously needs to be noted that it's Bruce ****ing Garrioch, so it's probably entirely made up.

The Panthers trading many of their veteran plays is certainly a distinct possibility. There are barely any untouchables.

Canucks want a 4th line C & a top 6 power forward type and seeing as how our two teams do business quite often it could work out.

Reasoner for 4th line C but we need to drop cap hits. Raymond could easily be used in the rebuild but idk if you've got a power forward type in the system to add?

Don't disagree, just you really don't need Garrioch to tell you that, it's pretty obvious to anyone with an Internet connection.

Ahhh, thats a little steep. I think you'd need to give atleast your 1st + Olesz.

I think most teams would be willing to add a bag or two of pucks going the other way though..

Would love to see Booth and/or Weiss in Toronto..... then we run into the problem of not having anything of real value to the Panthers that we'd be preapred to give up.

The Panthers don't like value. We prefer other teams left overs.

From the original article, Garrioch seems to have mistaken Setoguchi for Clowe. http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=3

You have to wonder if RW Devin Setoguchi will be used as bargaining chip. He is affordable with a $3.625-million cap hit for two more seasons

Garrioch needs to put down the sandwich and do some fact checking:

Quote:
The speculation is he might use one of his forwards to fill that need. You have to wonder if RW Devin Setoguchi will be used as bargaining chip. He is affordable with a $3.625-million cap hit for two more seasons
That is Clowe's cap hit not Gooch's...the guy is such a joke.

I'm sure Tallon's getting ready to make moves and clear out the dead weight on the team, but this is Garrioch, so the timing and who's going I take with the grain of salt.

And what's with the two Panther buddies in this thread?

Maybe they should start a rebuild. I hear if you have a lot of young players and draft picks you win a cup within a few years.

I think this is a pretty legit rumor. The Panthers had a pretty good home stand, but still are eight points out of the final spot. They do have four games in hand on the Thrashers, but we just dont have the firepower to make that type of move. We are two seasons away from being a playoff contender, so we might as well get some picks/prospects for our vets now, rather than keep them and try to make a run at the eight spot.

I just dont buy the rumor about Weiss. Why keep him in the offseason, when he told Tallon he wanted to stay, only to trade him in the offseason? He stressed to Tallon that he wants to be here when this thing turns around, that he owes it to the team that drafted him, so I dont see him being moved. He is still relatively young, has a good contract for his production, and should be the teams next captain. I do expect:

Vokoun
McCabe
Stillman
Higgins

to be moved. Reasoner and Dvorak are probably available as well, but these are two of the better 3rd/4th line players, and with the team going younger, its good to have these type of vets on the team. Plus, Dvorak was drafted by the team, and should retire a Panther. Bernier probably is available as well.

Plenty of things need to be cleaned out in Pantherland. Some players who are dead weight and need to be moved, so far as "cleaning house," I doubt that.

What about sweeping house. Or dusting house. Maybe mopping house.

It's semantic bull ****.
