I think the deal is too small as you proposed it. I believe there are still players remaining on each team. Can't have that.

Stupid deal for both teams and in terms of value, I think Montreal gets ripped IMO.

Might as well trade logos and venues as well.

Maybe if they were on some very strong drugs. Why not throw in Parise, Hale, Martin and Sublobov while you're at it, Vapor?

Let's make the a little simpler...

To Montreal: The New Jersey Devils
To New Jersey: The Montreal Canadians

Team logos, colors, players, stadiums, ownership, prospects all swap. NJ doesn't want to give up their coaching or management though, so you can't have that.

I'm serious..I don't think the Habs get a good deal at the end of the day if they make that trade:

Montreal gets:
Martin Brodeur
Colin White
Scott Gomez
Jeff Friesen

New Jersey gets:
Montreal's 1st Round pick
Jose Theodore
Mike Ribeiro
Mike Komisarek
Patrice Brisebois
Alexander Perezhogin

Martin Brodeur is good but his numbers and status is inflated by the team that he has infront of him. He was very weak once Stevens went down and he is already 32 yrs old. Yes a goalie can play for long but a lot of goalies tend to get more injured as they get close to 35-40 yrs old. Jeff Friesen does not impress me at all. Colin White is a great defenseman, an a very valuable player and Scott Gomez is also a good player but I see this from the Habs:

Jose Theodore is a great goalie..yes not as good as Brodeur but he already carried the team into a playoff all by himself once, he won the hart and vezina already and he is only 27 yrs old.

Mike Ribeiro got 65 pts this season and he is only 24 yrs old, he was also only playing with Dagenais and Ryder most of the season..a rookie and a on and off player while Gomez was playing with Elias..a superstar.

Alexander Perezhogin is the habs 2nd best prospect, and that is saying a lot since the Habs are very deep and talented in the prospect pool. Some of you may think that the habs would do anything to get rid of him since the incident but that's just a joke.

Mike Komisarek played great during the playoffs and he is a very good defenseman, possibly a potentiel stud defenseman. He wasn't taken 7th overall for no reason.

Brisebois, contrary to what a lot of people may think here, I think he is very solid defenseman and he loves to play in Montreal.

Plus we have to give the 1st round pick...No thanks!

Oh okay Komisarek8, if you want to take a joke thread seriously...

Montreal gets:
Martin Brodeur
Colin White
Scott Gomez
Jeff Friesen

New Jersey gets:
Montreal's 1st Round pick
Jose Theodore
Mike Ribeiro
Mike Komisarek
Patrice Brisebois
Alexander Perezhogin

Brodeur > Theodore - self explainitory
White > Brisebois - consider age and general opinion about each through the league
Gomez > Ribeiro - both are 24. Who would YOU rather have? If you say Ribeiro, sorry, you're a Canadiens homer.
Friesen sucks, but still can add 20 goals.

Komisarek, Perezhogin, and the first in no way make up for the above.

I agreed with you up to there... You mean that 3 firsts round pick don't close the gap in terme of value?
