Bruins plans for 2011-2012

So according to Capgeek.com, The Bruins have 17 players under contract totalling just over 49.5 mil. So if the cap goes up 2 mil as expected that would give us roughly 12 mil to sign 5-6 people. Marchand and Wheeler are the only bruin RFA's that counted for the cap this year. Stuart,Recchi,Ryder are our ufas. What do yall think happens? What do you wanna see?

I wanna see Ryder resigned for 1 year@1.5-2, Recchi for 1year @1-1.5, Marchand for 3@1.5-2.25, You gotta figure well see Colbourne and his 1.1 up. So what we have about 5 mil left? I figure a free agent, someone maybe like Gagne,Upshall,Hejduk,Kaberle,Pitkanen, wisniewski? From that list Id love to have Wisniewski personally.

Why would you think that Hejduk would sign with any other team than Avalanche?

I Think if he feels another team has a better chance to get him to the cup again he might be willing to go. I admit its doubtful but there is a chance.

IMO there is no chance. Only case Hejduk leaves is if he feels he can still play and Colorado doesn't offer him a contract. And that scenario isn't going to happen.

Why not? We could use a dynamic winger like him. Only problem could be him staying healthy.

Thats exactly the problem! Im not saying hes not talented I just want someone who we dont have to worry aboot injuries with. What with Savard out, and Kampfer's nose having issues I would prefer someone more reliable. Although if Savard decided to retire that would give us another 4 mil to play with next year...

If we want to find an impact player that will be reliable, its going to cost a lot more than Hemsky. I think we should roll the dice on him.

If the cost was fairly low sure but wouldnt you rather not give up what it would take to get him and target someone in the offseason? Or get someone who probably wouldnt take as much to get, Maybe someone like weiss?

I have no interest in bring Ryder or Recchi back. Both were good soldiers for the club, but we have a nice prospect pool of players that I would much rather have on the club over either of these guys. Two of the slowest players in the league and we need to improve our speed, resigning them won't.

Also, we need to find a #2 defensemen that can skate with the puck via either trade or FA (likely trade because I don't see many #2 PMD defensemen on the FA market.

If the Bruins do nothing but trade/sign a #2 PMD defense for $5-6 million, then promote some prospects like Caron, Colborne, Hamill, Sauve, Knight, Spooner, whoever we draft with Toronto's first this year, I will be happy.

If you want to keep Recchi for veteran purposes sign him as a coach or halfway through the year for playoff experience.

If I had to guess, short of getting Larsson (which is next to nil in the first place), the Bruins will attempt to get a defenseman via UFA.

Much rather get Hemsky and then in the offseason acquire a decent PMD if possible.

I would love a top 9 like this:

Hemsky-Krejci-Horton
Lucic-Bergeron-Seguin/Wheeler
Marchand-Wheeler/Seguin-Caron

Ya you make a legitimate point. Maybe we should throw all our youth in there. So if we do that maybe we take a run a bigger name defenseman. So who tickles your fancy? Wisniewski,Kaberle, pitkanen? Maybe try to trade and get a seabrook?

Larsson would be sweet. Maybe we bundle tor 1st, rights to Wheeler, and something else for the #1 pick?

No problem. lots of options right now. I would also love to sign one of Ehrhoff/Kaberle/Pitkanen if possible in the offseason. I could see a Kaberle deadline deal happening. Maybe deal Boychuk in the offseason to open up a slot/capspace?

I would also be interested in Bieksa.

Hemsky is not a shooter/sniper. Horton is a shooter/sniper, but can't find the net. Both Hemsky and Krejci are concussion-prone. Not a match made in heaven.

Only way I think we could do it is if Savard cant return or we let Wheeler walk.
