#Flames Craig Conroy likely to retire tomorrow. Barring a change of heart he will. Gonna sleep on it and talk to his family.

Gotta pay respect to one of the best people to ever lace up for this team.

See you on the panel Conroy!

As per Randy Sportak:

http://www.calgarysun.com/sports/myf.../17042996.html

Quote:
Flames brass said he could take some time to decide his next move, and would look at a position with the team if he retires.

Good stuff.

According to the Globe & Mail, it's to bring back Staios and to give a handful of guys in Abbotsford a taste of the NHL.

Sorry, wrong guy is getting waived & demoted. Benched Conroy > Staios anywhere.

I didn't think it would be possible for me to hate that Staios trade even more than I already do. I was wrong.

Send down Conroy just so you can activate Steve ****ing Staois? If it's to give the young guys a chance for a bit then that's something I can get behind.

Staios? Are you kidding me? The only guy who rivals Kotalik for being deadweight useless. I'd rather see Conroy out there. At least he'd be outpacing both of them for points.

That was also one of the reasons, according to Feaster.

That's honestly an awful way to end a guy's career. Especially a guy like Conroy.

Feaster did the same thing with Andreychuk a while ago and was lambasted for it. Seems like he hasn't learned anything.

Apart from the tying goal against Philly eralier this year, what good has Steve Staios brought to the team.

I cannot get the my avatar to show up on this site for some reason... at least I can't see it beside my name. I've tried using pics from online, uploading my own, it's always been within size limits, but it won't work!

Can anyone help me out?

edit: oh, profile pic and avatar aren't the same thing. go figure

Feaster said Staios was coming off injury reserve and its the coaches decision whether he will be played or not. Conroy was not waived for the sole reason of Staios. Feaster went on to say Conroy was the 14th forward and 6th centerman on the depth chart and its time to give younger player down in Abbotsford a shot a some games. He is 100% right and it sucks seeing Conroy leave, but its a step in the right direction by the Organization.

I'm also one of those selfish guys who wants to see Connie retire a Flame. And I want to see him stay with the organization. F TSN!

I'm getting his name put on my throwback jersey the day he announces his retirement.

There will be Conroy media availability at 1:00pm MT today, I believe it will be on the Fan 960. Dean Molberg was sayin' that it's not likely to announce his retirement, but just to answer all media questions at once.

This is true. It sucks because it's Conroy, and I hate to see him leave but it was going to happen eventually. I'm glad the Flames gave him an opportunity to play his 1000th game and are offering him a job within the organization once he retires if chooses to accept it.

With Conroy on waivers, and now Kotalik (hopefully Staios next) on waivers today, it's obvious Feaster wants to clear cap space and get younger, which is exactly what he should be doing. It's just too bad one of the good guys in the game was victim to it. I truly believe Conroy would be the first to tell us not to feel bad for him though. He's had a good career, and will get to retire a Flame, which is something he's often said he wanted to do.

George Johnson said it best in the Herald today:

Quote:
Feaster shouldn't be made into the heavy here. He's only looking to a future that has for too long been ignored.

how is waiving a 1 year/500k contract looking to the future? there is no kids even producing in the AHL to call up... all Feaster has done is make a hole in the pressbox
