That's not a good reason. Have you considered what trading for him would do to the cap situation of the Bruins or Flyers? As for the Habs, Iginla alone wouldn't be nearly enough to bring them a Cup. He's a great player but he's not on the level of a Crosby or an Ovechkin and he's a lot older than they are. The Habs would have to give up too much to get him and it would actually set them back.

We can dump Gomez in the offseason. Having Iginla plus Markov possibly playing in the finals would be a big monetary cap scam.

Exactly! Time to shut this one down boys....I think the Habs have to look at teams like the Oilers,Devils,Leafs, Sens etc to see if there is a fit out there...maybe even St louis, who we seemed to have developed a trading rapport with...

How many teams will make a push for Iginla if he becomes available? He's gonna put up 30+ goals for 10 straight years and at least 67 pts in all of those. All of that while playing with Craig Conroy or Daymond Langkow. Put him with a decent center and he's one of the top offensive players in the NHL plus he's solid defensively.

Langkow and Conroy were decent players when Iginla was playing with them.

He's never had a Crosby or Malkin type center, but he's usually played with decent players.

I'm sure a lot of teams would kick tires if he was in play, but the 7 mil price tag/cap hit plus the probable cost in players(young NHLer plus 1st and/or top prospect) will limit the actual teams in play to 3-4. Unless Calgary drops out before the deadline I don't see him being moved...unless a team like Pittsburgh dangled a Malkin or NYI dangled Tavares which are both unlikely.

Feaster is not an idiot. He will play his cards well, and he will rebuild if not in a playoff position. He will not tip his hand and let it out that Iggy is available cause that would lower the value.

Bingo, and it would also start a full out bidding war, not that there isnt one.
