I told my employees that we might not open tomorrow, but they keep saying that we only get 3-5 inches. They just don't know that my sources are the best ones.

I went to bed last night expecting this to be an afternoon event, and on my way into work it really started coming down once I went from Suffolk into Nassau. Glad to see I wasn't the only one in the dark on this one.

It's been snowing in Suffolk for about 30-45 minutes so far. My road is coated so far.

Is it going to warm up some more today where this def will turn to sleet/rain or were the weather channel and the local news stations completely wrong on this one.

Rich Hoffman on News12 said before that the 4 to 8 inches they were predicting may have to be increased so somewhere around a foot.

HP, your thoughts? lol

The rate this is going I would not be surprised if this stayed all snow. The early snow is cooling the columns nicely to minimize and possibly even eliminate the threat of sleet/mix. We shall see.

I'm guessing when things become very light as we approach the lull we may see some drizzle/mist.

I'll periodically change the title number throughout the day.

From a well respected meteorologist who I frequently chat with:

Quote:
This really concerns me. With all the technology we have, not one map picked up on this, even just 2 hours ago!!! Even now, the radar shows it, but the maps don't--incredible. So apologies to commuters this morning. This rush hour will be tough in some areas. The evening and night will be even tougher since the original prediction of heavy snow for that time, is on track

HP,

what do you think about NW NJ? National weather service is showing a pretty drastic dropoff towards the NW, any chance the heavier stuff shifts a little more north?

Currently 2 inches per hour rates in NYC. Bloomberg **** the bed and I must say so did many others.

NYC public schools are screwed.

Please fellow city dwellers and bridge and tunnel people, remember a few things.

1) It's ok to step into the snow for 3 minutes to open your ******* umbrella instead of blocking the ****ing subway steps. Don't worry, its just snow and it wont ruin your wool peacoat and blowback haircut.

2) In fact, just avoid umbrellas all together today ok? They're dangerous and with the wind they become even more dangerous. I got whacked in the face 5 times by idiots with umbrellas this morning.

I almost died on my way to work today. Car skidded right at me, I had to swerve up onto the grass on the on ramp on the LIE. I got stuck there for 30 minutes, needed someone to help push me out.

Everyone **** the bed on this one. No way anyone should have been commuting this morning. Now I'm stuck at work and dreading the ride home.

The snow is coming down in waves, it's incredible.

Yep, coming down in Nassau County for sure. Here's hoping my 3 o'clock class is squashed.

Wow man I am really sorry to hear that. Hope you're doing better now and goodluck! We will have a very brief lull If I were anyone I would wait for that Lull and escape home.

I don't think it's fair to call out Bloomberg on this one. From what I'm gathering, no one saw this happening as it's playing out right now. It's not like he had any warning.

I'd be more concerned with LI schools.

I have class tonight 6-9, really hoping they cancel it.

But this will be the third week in a row it would be canceled, so they may just try to hold it anyways....

He runs the city. The day leading up to the last snow event we had salt trucks dumping inches and inches of salt....

Yes, it's not his fault but this will make him look bad again after the last incident.
