thrashers play us tough this year. Ill be happy if we get any points tonight. Tampa seems to be rolling and making it hard to catch up. I always assumed we would go a win streak and take hold of the Div but that #5 seed and 1st round death matchup vs philly/pitt is looking like a reality.

I'd take a 6-5 loss if it means signs of life from 8, 19, 52 and the PP.

Sadly, I'm half serious.

No Enstrom, no Kane, no Ladd (maybe), Byfuglien struggling. Slump buster.

Agreed. BB needs to make a sticking point pre-game. Make sure they know they are weak and enforce the need to start the game quick and pressure immediately.

I am afraid you are correct. The confidence and winners swagger our boys used to have left this building (at least temporarily), the days of “wrong” way, exciting multi goal games are too few and far apart, but hey, maybe this type of hockey will come to fruition in the post season.
…but damn, do I miss those run and gun Caps of last couple of years.
Enstrom is out, we should have a better shot at W.

With Enstrom out, this is the perfect game to engage the offense and attack, attack, attack. Go out guns blazing in the beginning and try to open up the game. Without Kane and less offense from Buff, hopefully we will be able to mitigate ATL's offense.

Doubt that's what we see, but it's the golden opportunity to try it out on a division foe.

a basic of life. guns need ammunition to blaze. otherwise all you get is click, click and then your dead.

To coin a phrase, if the Caps claim they are coming out with guns blazing, my attitude is "you're a daisy, if you do."

Speed is their ammunition. While Ovie may have lost his shot and Backstrom can't get any room, the team speed is still there. If the Caps try out the uptempo style again, I feel their speed and strength in crashing the net should be enough to generate a handful of goals. Ovechkin is basically a really fast power forward this season, let's use him like one.

I guess I'll watch, since there won't be Capitals hockey for a week after, but I can't say I'm terribly excited about the game.

After stupid David Ferrer killed the chance of an epic Federer-Nadal final with the RafaSlam on the line, I'm kind of pissed at sports right now. It was the only thing that could've saved this stupid ProBowl/NHLASG weekend.

Prediction: 2-1, someone wins. Whatever.

Speed is a tool, but you have to be able to finish. Chimera is a 10 on the speed scale. He is not much of an offensive player.

BTW...Ov's shot extends the defensive zone. Lack of a shot contracts it. The less the Caps are a threat to score from distance the less defense is required there.

My prediction is a Capitals win to go into the All Star break on an up note. WA Caps 4 vs ATL 2.

personally, I could pass on watching hockey from now til the trade deadline. particularly this current caps team. if they are going to win in the most boring and painful to watch way, let me watch them win games that mean something.

as for allstar stuff. the baseball allstar game still looks like an actual game. the nascar allstar race is for actual money. its an actual race. otherwise, why bother.

we could be up 2-1 with 2 minutes left, score an empty netter on Atl, followed by them pulling the goalie again, picking up a goal, followed by another empty netter from us in the dying seconds. I think Ovechkin gets both empty netters to cause more people to freak out.

Lets get a win tonight....pretty much despise the all star break so this game has to last us a whole week.

Skippin this one to watch Detroit/New Jersey. It'll be nice to be able to see one of my two teams score more than 1 goal a game, zing!
