How crazy would it be if we signed Gagne?

after this year (after he probably wins the cup lol) how crazy would it be if we signed him so he could retire in orange and black (i know he hates us etc. etc...but i want to hear your thoughts!)

If we could get him really cheap I'd love it.

Gagne being in Versteeg's spot in the lineup would be a big help.

It would be amazing..he's so much better suited to that third line role than Der-steeg.

Is Gagne even going to be able to play hockey next year?

Ahahahah Der-Steeg. Love it. Not enough pun appreciation on here.

For real -- let's see if the guy's brain isn't mush come July 1st before we get carried away now.

I love Gagne but unless he was coming here cheap with the injury problems he has had and now he's 31 we don't really need that frankly.

Better than Versteeg. I would not mind.

I'm with the consensus here: trade Versteeg for whatever we can get, sign Gagne to a contract that would most likely be less than what Versteeg is making.

Barring he wins the cup this year (go Bolts!) You'd have to imagine The flyers would be one of the first teams he would want to sign with, assuming his feeling for being asked to waive his NTC have washed away in the last year.

My guess is he's going to be a cheap, yet valuable commodity on the free market this summer. My guess is that several teams will inquire him. A great veteran presence with some offensive flair.

If it's a reasonable price, not crazy at all. Hopefully he'd even take a little bit of a cut to rejoin us as well. Also, as mentioned, his health is most important to him.

If we could get him cheap, I'd be all over it. We just have to know how bad that whiplash on the ice was before we should even consider signing him though.

Can we just move on rather than recycle players all the time.....I like Gagne but want to sign somebody else with a fresher/new perspective...like Versteeg

As a Devils fan, bringing back players to relive past glories (even one year removed) tends to not work out that well.

Although Gagne is a helluva player.

The thing is They didn't get rid of Gagne because he wasn't working for them, he was a cap casualty.

Looking back though, Gagne + a 2nd for Meszaros + a 4th sounds a lot better 10 months later. Walker is a non factor for the team at this point assuming they bury him again before next season.

Why not just trade for Upshall?

...at least then we become instant cup contenders.

I'll pass on Gagne, simply because of the concussions.

Gags is and will be one of my all tima favourite Flyers.
Really would have him back here as a 3rd liner.

But I doubt if he wants to play for us... imagine: having played 10 years for this organisation an given your best for team, than the managers ask you to leave and in the first year on another team you win the cup.... I would say screw you Holmgren.

factor in the turnovers Versteeg would have in those 30-40 games and the potential derailed locker room....I'd take injury prone Gags.
