LOL. Everybody hates the Isles. It's understandable too.

Honestly, that's more embarrassing for Mike Smith than it is the Islanders. Smith has always been a kid who's full of himself and thinks he's better than he is. I hope this costs him a chance to ever play in the NHL again. Have fun in Russia, Mike.

I think it's a joke, but I agree. Smith should feel happy just to be in the NHL at all. You're not that good, Mikey.

I would show up and just say "I'm ill doctor! I can't play!" And sit out the rest of the season back in Tampa where I needed to regularly visit my "doctor." I don't know what ever happened to Paul Ranger but he basically isn't playing anymore for "personal reasons."

I don't think that TSN report is accurate. Newsday is reporting that the Islanders aren't claiming Smith.

Quote:
PITTSBURGH - There will be no repeat of the Evgeni Nabokov drama that surfaced on Long Island in recent weeks; Newsday has learned that the Islanders are "not interested" in goaltender Mike Smith.

The Islanders are one of the most entertaining teams in the league, and it has nothing to do with their on-ice play.
That franchise is an abomination. I almost feel sorry for them.

The league has to set up some sort of rule to prevent the players from not reporting to a team after being waved.

Damn, that Mike Smith not reporting to the Isles was fake?

Was looking forward to reading the thread on the mainboards.

Or they could amend their rules of players having to go through waivers when they sign a contract with an NHL team after spending part of the season in another league. I understand the thought process behind why they made the rule but this has just become a joke.

If you understand the rule, then why is it a joke?

What prevents, say Detroit in a few years, from letting Lidstrom play in the SEL for the regular season, and bringing him back every year for the playoffs?

I guess what I'm saying is i disagree with it.

I wouldnt care if detroit wanted to do that. I wouldnt have cared if nabokov went to detroit or if the two forwards had gone to St. Louis.

I do think there should be a deadline date that players would have to sign by so that they arent joining a team in march just for the last few weeks and playoffs.

No suspension for Jordan Staal. The league rescinded the ban. Apparently headshots are only an issue when it is done to a Penguin but not when a Penguin is the one doing it.
I don't know how I came across this thread, but that comment made me very confused.

Come on. Englund Elbowed Savard's head into the boards, not even a penalty. Cooke on Savard. Cooke on Anisimov. This is scratching the surface. Crosby runs into Steckle and headshots are suddenly on the forefront again. So when everyone from Crosby and Bylsma to Bettman are saying we need to do more to protect the players' heads just because Crosby can't look where he's skating, I am the one that is confused when the very same complainers think a suckerpunch to the chin is barely a penalty.
