Wild Clinch 5th Straight Playoff Birth!

With LA's loss to the Rangers last night, the Wild have clinched their 5th straight playoff birth. Pretty exciting stuff despite how poorly the team has been playing lately.

Let's use this thread to discuss the upcoming playoffs, possible match-ups, etc.

Hoping for the Blues, Hawks, Ducks, and Blue Jackets. But I'm not confident we can win a game yet alone a series anymore.

Feels nice to not have to worry about it until the last days of the season.

Is it weird that I don't want to face Yeo & the Blues in the first round?

Something about that team worries me.

We didn't want to face the Blues in 2015 either.

As much as this has stretch has sucked a lot of enthusiasm out of us as a fan base, I think it still needs to be acknowledged that we clinched with this many games left, even after such a bad losing streak.

Testament to a very good season.

Is it really backing in if you are 2nd in the conference though?

Because of the bad month I get it. But no. This is the first time in a very long time (like close to 8 years) the team has secured the playoff position before the month of April. Outside of the division winning year this may have been the earliest.

Hell think it was 4 years ago they needed to beat a crappy Calgary team or Edmonton to secure it at the end of the season. They lost both and it relied on Columbus losing their final game to secure it.

I don't think that was 4 years ago, probably 3. 2013 we beat Colorado to clinch on our last game of the season.

hard to get excited about playoffs when were playing horrible. if were a 1st round exit after having the best wild season so far , somebody's got to take the blame & change must be made. atleast BB wont be afraid to tell gmcf what needs to be fixed.

Not too worried about the playoffs. Our depth and defensive ability will keep us in games; we are a top goal scoring team in the league as well. But goaltending is a concern for me right now. Dubynk looks so tired and sloppy. Kuemper is completely unreliable.

Yup that was it! I just pulled it up:

Minnesota Wild* 48 26 19 3 55 .573 122 127 -0.16 -0.05 .521 22
Columbus Blue Jackets 48 24 17 7 55 .573 120 119 0.03 0.01 .490 19

We won in the tie breaker because we beat Colorado on the last game.
