ATL willing to move Hainsey, Modin and Antropov

from Dreger on twitter.

i imagine Antropov is the only one with any value, but he is having kind of a down year because of lingering injuries and lowered ice time

hmm... Atlanta is still in a playoff spot. I'd assume they would want roster players in return?

I liked Modin when he was with the Kings in the last seasons playoffs. I doubt Lombardi will do anything though.

Might be salary moves...

Wouldn't really mind Hainsey in our top 4, but at 4.5mil for three years? Ow.

I'm sure Antropov would be a guy the Thrashers would like to ship out. He isn't even in their top 6 anymore and is under-producing, thus making him overpaid.

Hainsey is a guy I could see a few teams having interest in.

Modin has playoff experience and still is useful. I think he'd be someone the Thrashers would like to keep around but you never know.

none of the 3 are considered "core" guys at this point though...

I imagine they would be looking for a more dynamic goal scorer to stick in the top 6. Anthony Stewart just doesnt have the hands to be a 2nd liner but he would fit nicely on the 3rd line

Not suprised at all to hear this about Antropov. Just not playing the way he should be. Has been solid lately. I would think we would want to keep Hainsey as he has been playing very well this year. Same with Modin. He has been solid this year and is better then he appears. We'll see what happens though.

hainsey's got 8m owed over the next 2 years with 9M in cap. Might be movable to budget teams.

modin's also moveable, with only 800k in 'hard' cap hit. the other 400k is bonuses so can roll if needed. Almost any team should be able to fit him in at the deadline.

antro's probably going to be the hardest of the three to move, especially in-season.

Antropov is coming off major surgery in the offseason.

Trading him now would be stupid as they would be getting low low value for someone who is still a very good NHL player.

I doubt he moves.

What happened to Antropov this year? He was great last year.

Is it because Little went back to center and Stewart made the team this year? No room for him in the top 6 so he isn't producing?

surgery in the off season might have had something to do with this, not sure but he did look great last year maybe he is not highly depended on this year too

Hainsey has been one of our best defenseman in our own end, and Antropov's value is vastly diminished due his slow recovery from hip surgery.

However, if the Thrashers want to bring in salary to help the team, they are likely going to have to dump some as well. Moving Antropov and Hainsey clears quite a bit of salary.

I think he's still recovering from offseason surgery. He is getting less ice time this year and also hasn't had that great of linemates. His best line mate has probably been Burmistrov, and that has basically been on the 3rd line.

The Thrasher Antropov looks just like the Maple Leaf Antropov and Ranger Antropov, IMHO. He started slow this year but what you've seen from him the last month is pretty much what he is. Good hockey sense, a good shot, good puck control coupled with slow feet and a lack of physicality (for a big guy).

You also have to remember he's not playing with Kovy and Afinogenov this year...

I don't see a team offering anything useful for the Thrashers unless Antropov or Hainsey are packaged with a pick or top prospect.

That being said, I personally hope we don't move Hainsey. He's playing off his rocker right now and has been our best dman on many nights.

Hainsey and a 2nd for Regehr
Antropov for Arnott
Modin back to LA for a 4th round pick.

To quote the old classic...what do you thinking???

Belanger would rather saw his arms off than play for Atlanta again. He had bad (justified) things to say about the organization when he left, and Waddell called him (and Hossa and Kozlov) out in the press for his playoff performance vs. NYR.

FWIW, when asked what needs to improve, Ramsay said that a few guys need to step up, and "Hainsey needs to play better without the puck".

Atlanta is in the playoffs, but they've seen their playoff security plummet in the last couple of weeks. Carolina is 1 point back with 2 games in hand, which basically means they are 8th.

It's no suprise that they'd looking to make a minor shake up with guys that have big paycheques and who aren't really performing. The problem is -- there's not too many teams looking to make player-for-player moves.

My take on the 3 'on the block'

Antropov - I would be looking to move him too. I think the hip will be a chronic problem going forward and it makes sense now to see if they can get some value now given his career high season last year is fresh in the other GMs minds. Also he has gone from a 1st line player to 3rd line minutes so I don't think he is an essesntial player for the team anymore.

Hainsey - Playing one of his best seasons reborn as a defensive defenseman. It seems strange that he is on the block as opposed to Oduya whom has struggled a bit this season. Maybe it is a money issue.

Modin - The guy is done. Plays 3 games then gets injured. Then comes back, plays another 3 games and gets injured again. Atlanta isn't going to give him away like Eager because the depth isn't there at the moment but if we could some how get a young fringe roster player from another team (Oscar Moller) for Modin, I would be all over that deal.

You gotta thing that money is the issue with these guys. Modin less than the rest, but still.
