I don't see him as being much better/different from Alex Henry. Walker was an okay #6/7 guy who got his career season in at just the right time and picked up a sweet UFA contract. Henry didn't get that, but I thought with the Wild he might have been in line for some similar luck, alas. We're still talking guys on the fringes of regular NHL duty. Yes, the Habs lack size and toughness. But it doesn't mean we have to scrounge for every random facsimile of it that comes across the waiver wire.

A physically sound Walker on a 1-year deal for $600k, sure, let's take him. But that's not what's on offer. He'll pass waivers, and join Henry and a bunch of similar players in the AHL.

Spacek has been fine.

In fact, since he was put back on the left, and given more limited ice time, he's been downright good.

Spacek's issue is that he's not a 22 minute guy, and he isn't good on his off side.

Now he's a 17 minute guy on his proper wing, he's a solid citizen.

Couldn't agree more. I think the All Star break will do him a ton of good too.

I don't understand why this organization has an obsession with taking players from their natural career long positions and moving them elsewhere. I was hoping for a little bit more from Spacek when we signed him though... I always remember him being a Canadiens' killer when he played in Buffalo!

I assume we're talkin about that guy. He's been out of the line up 3 times this year with a hip injury. His only claim to fame is being acquired with a 4th from Tampa for Gagne.

No thanks. I'm quite certain there are better options.

Thanks, I could use this with the same exact line in the Gomez thread too.

Seriously though that brings back some amazing memories. That Lapierre goal was something else.

However, props on the title.
I think you are confusing this place with the Leafs board. I haven't seen that many threads although a lot of players have been waived this year.

With two years left on his contract, nobody will claim him.

He started off working in a parts store and built fast cars. You're right he was a driver in the movie.

As for the Walker in question, I don't think he's better than anything we have so I'd pass. It's true that EVERY time a player goes on waivers, it seems some people always want that player even if he sucks and couldn't cut it on a crappy team.

Walker is horrendous. Having watched plenty of Hawks games over the past 2 years, the guy makes Spacek look like a Norris contender (not that Spacek has been bad recently, either).

Pass and pass again.

I don't even know where to begin with that ridiculous statement!!!!

1. Brisebois is/was the most overrated defencemen to ever put on a Habs jersey.
2. Brisebois was soft and wouldn't go in corners and he made about 5 huge mistakes a game
3. Spacek has had to play on his wrong side for 90% of his time with the Habs.
4. Since Spacek has played on his correct side with Weber, he's been a solid defender.

We don't need anymore defencemen. We have one of the better goals against in the NHL because of our defence. Our defence isn't as bad as people think. We are having trouble scoring because our forwards are small, if anything, we should be looking to see if there are any big forwards out there that can help the team add size and strength to our top 9 forwards....we don't need defencemen.

4. Since Spacek has played on his incorrect side with Weber, he's been an even crappier defender.
5. On his best days, Spacek does not even come to the shoe (or skate) of Breezer's worst day
Dude, I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree...

Spacek has been great on the left side. Enough said.
