Claim Kotalik

Per Trade Rumors and free agent board, Ales Kotalik was waived by the flames.

I liked Kotaliks offense as a bottom 6 forward and his shot from the point on the power play.

Any good picking him up at this point to help out our powerplay a bit more and maybe stimulate our offense a bit more?

Contract.

Just say no. Let him clear. I'd consider trading Rivet for him, but the extra year on Kotalik's contract makes that less appealing as well.

If he was on the last year of his contract I'd be all for it, but... No.

I do think Kotalik is underrated, but he wouldn't help our team much if he isn't scoring.

Also, no. Even if he would get us a couple shootout wins.

I'd consider it on re-entry, but there's no way the Sabres should touch that contract as is.

Sounds like top-six forward material to me. He'd fit right in here.

I miss those 05-06 and 06-07 teams, but I'm not sure I would take him even if he was on re-entry waivers.

Maybe if he gets waived again next season.

Re-entry? Yes. Until then? No. And I am a huge Kotalik guy.

His skills in the shootout would be worth a couple points in the standings, and adding that without subtracting assets might be worth it. And, without a doubt, he would contribute more to the team than Rob Niedermayer and maybe even Mike Grier.

If you're gonna try to turn this into a playoff team this season, adding AlKo wouldn't hurt.

Well...I guess I'd take him over Nieds. But that's about it.

We're 4-0 in the shootout. Kotalik doesn't give this team anything they actually need.

I'd take him on re-entry waivers - give him Grier's/Ellis's spot in the lineup... Certainly cant perform any worse... His slapper is still jaw dropping

The Sabres already have their Kotalik in Portland if Mark Parrish can stay healthy now.
