Burke needs to go home to his family. He's not thinking clearly. He's even worse mentally/emotionally than when he made Kessel deal.
He's not all there. He needs time with family. He has to leave this city alone!
Because you know him personally right? Quit making assumptions about someones personal well being with no facts. Stick to the discussion, which has to do with the future moves he will make to better this team.. and nothing to do with his personal life.
Was listening to him talk and he said that he belives that Burke and company have some big moves in store he said that Brian Burke will do WHATEVER it takes to make the Leafs a playoff team/contender next year. He said we are in the Market for a top line C as top line LW and a legit #1 goalie according to Dreger we have the assets to get this done.
so Leaf fans if we are to take Dreger at his word and he is one of most connected guys in the business do you expect Kadri and/or our 2012 1st to be on the block? I think it's a damn good possibilty.
Don't trade any young talent. Get rid of the older guys for anything you can and tank. That needs to be the Leafs big move.
Oh God why did we have to give up that 2nd 1st round pick. It makes no F'ing sense! 1st,2nd,3rd. That is all!
We got stuck with a G.M that has too much pride. We should have offer sheet Kessel. bruins wouldn't have matched as they don't think he's worth it. And if they did match than we still have our picks....

Really makes you wonder wtf was Burke thinking.
1st, 2nd, 3rd or 1st, 1st, 2nd

Chiarelli has said that he would of matched any offer sheet thrown at Kessel.
We have a big forward capable of 25-30 goals in Kulemin.
We don't really need anymore wingers. If Versteeg were to be dealt, I think players that could be coming back are:
Stephen Weiss
Joe Pavelski
Patrik Berglund
Valtteri Filpulla
although certain players might need to be added depending on the deal.
We need more than just one big winger capable of 20+ goals. Kessel's line needs a guy to play the physical side and it'd be great if he could chip in a few.
Tell me one team that would be willing to trade a first line C or LW, for a prospect + future pick.
Horton isn't a first line winger, he is a very good second liner.
LOL your talking about a TOP prespect and a #1 pick and you don't think that could get a list line C or LW? but I bet if it was ANY other team it would right?
I would consider something around Goligoski, if you guys added a little.
However, it doesn't matter because supposedly Shero claims he is going nowhere.
Yeah we need somebody to quarterback our PP outside of Kaberle who is growing long in the tooth and is also going UFA. So either Goligoski or Letang (obviously Letang isn't leaving Pittsburgh) but as for Leafs players we'd willingly leave with its people like Versteeg, Bozak, Hanson, Caputi, Brown, Sjostrom, etc.
Kessel was coming off his 36 goal season. Maybe he intended to negotiate renewing his contract?
The thing is Burke didn't know, he wouldn't know if he was bluffing. I don't know, nobody but Chiarelli knows. But by telling Burke that he'll match the ball is now in Chiarelli's hand, he had control of the situation and that it will take two 1st's and a 2nd. End of story, he wouldn't budge.
What would Leafs fans realistically want for Versteeg? (Pens fan)
Realistically, a player for our top line. People keep tip-toeing around this fact, but the only players Toronto needs are those for the top line and a goaltender. Our problems this year haven't been the D, nor have they been the "2nd line" of MacArthur-Grabo-Kulemin, nor have they been the 3rd of Versteeg-Boyce-Armstrong (although an upgrade at centre would be nice). Would we be willing to sacrifice some of the players that haven't been a problem? absolutely, but only if a player to solve at least one of our problems is coming back in the deal.
The type of deal that Toronto has to make is multiple players for one top liner.
look for Burke to move some of his d-men for some prime prospects and picks
That would go against his whole plan. Once that Kessel trade was made, he basically guaranteed that whatever we trade won't be just for picks or prospects. Here's here to win now, so if we did trade some d -men it would for players who can step in now.
