Not sure if this has been mentioned... but is it jut a coincidence that Lundy has been doing so much better now that he is playing, and knows he is playing, every game.

It just seems like he is a guy that strives when he is playing, every game.

Maybe next year you give Henrik a lot of rest in the first half of the season, and then hardly any rest down the stretch.

I don't know, i'm just spit balling here.

Lundqvist has also personally said, in the nhl.com article, that he doesn't feel any nagging injuries or ailments and feel 100% fine. Not tired at all. He also states it's been quite a long time ago since that happened. Guess the neck feels fine now, or it happened after the interview.

Lundqvist also has historically been at his best the last quarter of the regular season.

I think it has a lot more to do with how the team is playing in front of him than any pattern to his starts... He has traditionally logged a lot of starts for us in bunches in the past years... Our team is playing with a lot of confidence right now and raises his level of play to match.... I can't think of very many games in his Ranger career where the team was playing really well in front of him and he was slumping in net... Also, we have 2 very solid defensive pairings that limit the number of scoring chances and shots getting through when they're on their game....

I think the numbers speak for themselves. He has been every bit as good as he has been in the past...if not better.

We all use stats to support our opinions but dismiss them when they don't support our opinions.

Henrik is making a case for runner up but in no way does any goalie deserve the Vezina besides Thomas

With our top scorer at 50 or so pts, Lundqvist is actually making an interesting argument for the Hart. The Sedins are a few pts apart, as are St Louis and Stamkos. I really don't see any one skater running away with it.

I don't see Hank beating out Thomas.

I think Henrik is in a tough spot because of the way that this team plays. They're always looking to block a lot of shots so those that get through to Henrik are either screened and/or deflected, often by his teammates, or are otherwise really quality chances. This keeps his SV% down a bit I think. 11 shutouts speaks for itself - especially taking into consideration who is on D in front of him.

I'm sure most people won't agree with me but I think he deserves it every bit as much as Thomas does. Thomas was godly toward the beginning of the season but taking the whole thing into scope as well as the teams and specifically the defenses in front of them he hasn't been much better thank Hank IMO. Henrik is great year in and year out - the guy deserves to finally get the trophy. This team would be horrifying without him.

The hart isn't impossible either - in fact, you might be able to make a more convincing argument that he deserves that trophy.

Two months ago I understood the 'Thomas by a mile' kind of comments, but he really hasn't been very good this side of the new year. If we're talking consistency throughout the entire season - which we should be, shouldn't we? - then Lundqvist and Rinne both have him beat. Thomas also plays in less games which doesn't help his case. I'm sure he'll win it, but I really don't see it as clear-cut as it was a couple of months back.

Thomas starts wayyyy too little games, even though his stats are astronomical. I also doubt Henrik gets the hart even though he probably will end up deserving it as much as whoever does. Hank keeps getting shifted by the hot goalie of the year, but his consistency speaks for itself.

I can understand Thomas winning it, but Henrik no doubt deserves a nomination at this point. He's been nothing short of phenomenal this season, as he has been every season of his NHL career.

What a player. It's not often that you find a player who could easily be so distracted by other things outside of his sport, yet manages to maintain such a consistent level of excellence every season. A real pleasure to be able to watch his career unfold.

I would love to see numbers since the ASG.. a little "what have you done for me lately?"

And to answer the OP, no we do not need him at all, we generate enough offense to have a average goaltender

It's pretty sad that there is always one goalie who plays out of his mind for one season and beats Hank out for the Vezina. He's arguably been the most consistent goalie since the lockout.

I think if anybody could give Thomas a run for his money it would be Rinne. His stats are getting pretty close to Thomas.

Just for reference:

Thomas:
GP: 51
SV%: .938
GAA: 2.02
Shutouts: 8

Rinne:
GP: 57
SV%:9.29
GAA:2.10
Shutouts: 6

Lundqvist:
GP:61
SV%: .924
GAA: 2.24
Shutouts: 11

Henrik is just the third goalie in the past 35 years to record 11 shutouts in a season, joining Brodeur (twice) and Hasek.

http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/recor...l-goalies.html

Fairly historic considering the scarcity of it occurring. Brodeur's best single season mark was 12. Henrik has a shot at catching that or surpassing it with no backup ready to step in and a few more games left. With the way he is playing I wouldn't bet against him.

He's also the first Rangers goalie to do so since 1926-27.

If he gets 13, I think he deserves it regardless of what Thomas does.

Thank you, equal SP and Hank having a much better GAA.

It is going to be interesting. IMHO it is up for grabs still.

I think if we win in Buffalo on Wednesday Chad should get the start on Long Island.

Other than that Hank every game.
