Now we know why no one signs here

Just saw this poll from the NHL all-star game...over one-fourth of the league does NOT want to play on the Islanders

Wang, it is well past time to sell...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puc...urn=nhl-314327

What team would you least like to play on? New York Islanders, 27%

No surprise really. Bottome line is winning. Isles havent done much of that in the past 16 years.

thats cool. in all honesty --and not just feeling slighted by the poll results-- if you add up all the players that i dont want playing for the islanders, the grand total is a whole hell of a lot more than %27!!

And in the NBA it's the Clippers, in MLB it is the Royals and the NFL it's the Lions. That tends to be the results of last place teams. Nothing shocking here

I look at it this way, you won't be able to change the way the older players think because they are pretty much set in their ways, so as long as they impress the younger nhl'ers and their draft picks that change real quick.

I look at it this way, Doug Weight is first class all the way and he wants to stay with the organization and loves it here. If the Isles were that ****ed he would be trying to get into other organizations once he retired. I wish a guy like Sillinger would've stayed but he retired at the height of all the bs.

It's the losing and knowing that the team will never spend what they need to spend to be competitive.

So for 73 percent of the league the islanders aren't the worst team to play for. Nothing I'm going to lose sleep over.

I think most knew this already. Nobody wants to play for a team that has been a perennial doormat.

I would love to see this poll done when the Blackhawks were bad (5-6 years ago). When the Isles start winning all of this stuff will go away. We are a few players away from winning the cup but we are not far from making the playoffs next season. Let everyone say what they want, we will be back on the map soon. I'm not worried.

The Blackhawks got good once their owner died. I think the past 10 or so years have proven that it's not simply waiting for the worst to be over with the Islandes but that a radical shift in personnel is the only thing that will get them out of the abyss.

a few players away from winning the cup? Who are those few players? Chara, Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Weber, Miller & Keith?

I was being sarcastic with few players but we are definitely not far from being a playoff team when fully healthy. Winning cures everything, that being said everything else will fall into place if everyone stays healthy. This Islander team is much better than teams of the past that had no structure whatsoever. Milbury had the right idea with bringing Yashin and Peca in but couldnt get the right mix of players to go all the way. I think Snow has his plan and has done a decent job, this will be the summer that he gets someone via trade or offer sheet.

You have no proof that this is the truth and it's simply wishful thinking. Half-assed offers to Kovalchuk means nothing. I can't imagine that Wang lost any less money this year than in years past. Why would they have money to spend now if they didn't before?

Not to state the obvious, but that's probably why he prefaced the statement with "I think."

We have such a ridiculous amount of cap space. If we dont spend money this offseason, the league should force wang to sell the team. If we just spend some money we can get good fast.

We spent money this year.

How else could we be $12M under the cap on ice every night if we didn't?

Snow has to spend the Witt money (minus the Moulson raise). Yashin's cap differential as well (we can buy out Weight?).

The Oilers were not far behind at 20%. Then was Florida at 7% and Atlanta at 2%. Seems to be a common thread among these teams although Atlanta is turning it around. Players may still be irked by them not keeping Kovi which turned out good.

At this point i wouldn't mind the Islanders being relocated to Quebec.

Good thing that article pointed that out. I had no idea that thinking existed.

Ya mean they don't like flying into Farmingdale airport and seeing the main attraction near NVMC of McDonald's on Hempstead Tpke. and that doesn't make up for all the losing?

No way.
