Do you have 2010-2011 FANTASY LEAGUE Questions (Kings Related)? Ask Here

Hey everyone, fellow oiler fan here. I was just wondering what you guys think of Jonathon Bernier and if he will be making a push for the starting job this year?

Do you think he is ready to move in ahead of Quick or will it take a season or two of seasoning still.

Feedback would be appreciated, Thanks

He will almost certainly make the team. most of us expect him to get 25-30 starts, unless Quick gets hurt.

I think Bernier will be pushing Quick by the end of the season and management will end up with a very tough choice by the postseason. If he keeps up the progress he has made like he has and continues to play like he was last season, he will have the job by next season for sure.

What kind of numbers do you expect out of Williams, assuming he is healthy...as unlikely as that is?

If their is any year that Williams will stay mostly healthy, it's this year. Contract year.

How have Hickey and Fransson looked? I own both in a fantasy league, just checking up on them. Also what are the chances they make the team? I know both making the team is unlikely but that is exactly why I own both

Fransson just got sent to the AHL so that's probably a bad sign unless you play an AHL fantasy league

As far as Hickey goes, I think he's likely to start the season with the Kings. We'll see what happens once Greene gets healthy.

As of now, Quick is the #1.

By the numbers(he hasn't played a game that has been televised/streamed or played in LA), Bernier has been solid.

Quick is the #1, and Bernier has looked strong, he will definitely be #2. Murray isn't going to play Quick as much this year and it will likely be a split of 50/30 give or take a few.

Bernier

My friend drafted Bernier in our pool last night, saying that he'll be the definite starter. I called him an idiot, and right now he just bet me $20 that Bernier will be the starter by Christmas. I don't want to look stupid, or lose $20, is there any chance of this happening without an injury to Quick?

I think it's possible, but not likely.

If Quick is erratic like he was post-Olympics, it's very possible. If not, it's Quick's job.

The only reason that it wouldn't happen is because TM has some weird love affair with Jonathan Quick.

Theres a very high chance that he'll be the starter by that time.

Quick has already been annointed the #1. Bernier WILL outplay him, but if you know Terry Murray, he'll stick with Quick until he's forced to play Bernier. Blind loyalty is a scary thing

Hey Terry, there's a dead horse over there named Jonesy.

The rest is obvious.

Save your money. Odds are in your favor, but the roster moves by coaching is erratic at times, and it can reasonably go in any direction at any time.

I give the odds as of today (That Bernier is not the starter by Christmas): 70/30.

I would take the bet, it really takes a lot for TM to anoint a new starting goaltender (especially with Quick). Quick would literally have to screw the pooch in order for him to lose the job.

However, it's not impossible, if Quick took a nose dive like he did in the playoffs or post-Olympic games, then yeah. Nevertheless, I just don't see that coming from Quick early in the season. I would say that it's possible that Quick's play could start tailing off around Christmas and he'll lose his job towards the end of the season (near playoffs), but I don't think as soon as Christmas.

That's a good bet to take (odds are very much in your favor), coming from a huge Bernier fan myself!

Your friend may be idealistic, but I think reality is going to say otherwise!

Godspeed to you!

If you do lose, pay him back in a bar and then get him to buy the next round.

Thanks, best case, I win the bet, then trade for Bernier the day before Quick suffers an injury haha.

The Kings haven't had great goaltending since EVER, and last season we had a guy with mediocre stats and he's been anointed the #1 bestest goalie evar by Terry Murray.

*sigh*

It hurts being a Kings fan most days...
