I have a lot of qualms with these but right now my biggest one, after looking at all those pics, is the front logos and numbers look screen printed on, literally. They dont look like crests there at all... it looks like pure screen print.
Theres lots of other things I dont like but Im sure they will grow on me at some point but the lack of a true crest from these pics is concerning to say the least.
By the way, Every Season ticket holder is getting a free jersey that also includes a microchip that allows to be scanned and get 25% off concessions and 30% off merchandise in the forum. Not a bad gesture.
I can see your concern about the logo being screen printed - that's cheesy as heck, and would cheapen the whole look of the jersey. Hopefully that's not the case.
The microchip idea is very cool and a little creepy at the same time.
Maybe it's because I'm a designer, but jeebus.. the way the top of that lightning bolt is spearing the A in 'BAY' is just painful to look at. It makes the whole secondary logo look crooked and amateur.
I agree. The logo looks amateurish. It may be simple but it's not as clever and elegant as it could have been.
No one is asking but I will: no one cares that they ventured from a circular logo to one with an oval?!? I thought the circular ones looked better. There's circular ones on here that look better! The one in someone's avatar with a circular one with the bolt almost fitting inside was the best option, imho.
The new one is a bit cheesy looking and I don't like the oval.
The rest of the jersey looks okay except for the wording of 'Tampa Bay' on the away/white jersey. There's really no need.
Lmao, I looked at the avatar and knew it had to be a Leaf fan. I personally don't like them (not because I hate the Leaf jersey) but rather that the black/blue/white worked for them and looked awesome.
Really not a fan. I messed around a bit in photoshop, and the jerseys look much better with the patch as the main logo.
This was my attempt to make the new jersey in the 90's-2005 style. Note that this was a 2 min effort and only partially finished.
That's like 100X better than what they put together. I don't mind the overall concept behind changing the logo, but they just crapped out on the execution.
Adding a little bit of depth and trim just makes a world of difference. It's crazy how the NHL continues to put out awful designs, while fans with a bit of time and photoshop can blow them away. Much like this, versus Ottawa's current third Jersey:
Maybe the NHL could have a fan voting thing where we all submit our designs, and they build a new Jersey around that concept.
