Man, I don't know...
I know he was used as argument as to why Kostitsyn has a bad contract.

Heck, Brouwer as a terrible contract if we compare him to Stamkos...

While I know that Oilers fans don't want to hear that, it would be Kostitsyn and a prospect (center or defenseman) not quite established at the NHL level yet, but almost ready.

Is that what you think Montreal would offer or is that the definition of the "fairly high package"?

It's gonna be an interesting deadline because there are not very many sellers, yet quite a few buyers looking for depth and scoring wingers...I doubt we take a package just for the sake of making a trade. Hence, why I think Hemsky and Penner are probably not traded.

I think this season is not the right season to make the big move. With Markov and Gorges out we are missing 2 of our better elements. the most I would be looking at giving up is a 1st rounder.

I wouldn't give up on some of our youth whom are just a year or 2 from producing at a higher level. Max Pac, Eller and Pouilot I think can all be productive top 6 players in the near future.

Unless Edmonton is looking for bottom 6 players I would only be looking at giving up Webber, or Ak from the active roster. Maybe Pouilot.
of course they can pick and choose from the bottom 6 or the farm if they want

how ?
Did i say Moss>AK? no. AK's a good player WHEN HE WANTS TO BE, moss has a lot of versatility, he's got a big body and gets garbage goals, kills Pk's and can play both wing and center. And so are you saying Boyd>Jackman? no.. Dont try play boyd off as some dynamo, i've only watched him his whole carreer.. he cant play top-6 or bottom-6, he's an AHL'er. Jackman has been great this yr, and as i said, everyone loves the guy. i wouldnt touch that trade

Huh? David Gilbert? I wouldn't even want to sign that guy, he's not a prospect...average skills below average grit and work ethic.

I wouldn't mind Brouwer but that looks a bit steep.

To get Penner it is going to take you more than a 1st round pick. We need a big dman prospect which would be Tinordi but Mon doesn`t want to trade him away so if you don`t want to give you can`t have. We don`t have to trade Penner away, he is still signed for another year.

Like people are saying there is not much out there right now so if we don`t get what we want we don`t trade.

So, we will keep Penner, we dont want Kostityn either.

Fair enough, I agree Oilers should keep him if they don't get what they want. Montreal dosen't do Tinordi and a 1st for him.

And this little piggy went we-we-we all the way home!

And what about the Oilers, what do THEY think?

Would the habs do the following trade:

Habs get: Raffi Torres, Aaron Rome
Canucks get: Travis Moen

Rome is a depth d-man who is signed for a very reasonable 750k through the 2011-2012 season. He is solid and tough as a 6-7 dman.

Torres would provide size and toughness on LW along with some goal scoring prowess.

Why would the Canucks want to trade Torres? They seem to be doing alright with him, no?

Hrm, I guess I'd take it. Moen is pretty dependable, but we're paying a bit of a premium for his dependability. Torres has a bit more potential to score, even if it's in small bunches and he isn't so consistent. Losing the size of Moen is a big drawback, however. We just don't have any. And while Torres sometimes plays physical, it's not really the same. Rome sounds like an upgrade on Picard for the 6/7 spot.

I'm not sure the actual Habs would do it, though, they seem to like the chemistry the team has, and Moen seems like kind of the understated mini-tough-guy that fits Martin's preferences too, and probably don't perceive a need to upgrade grittiness in Rome over Picard/Weber either.

I agree with Blind Gardien...i'd do it but the Habs probably would not.

I'd personally like to get Moen's contract off the books for next season. IMO you can sign a similar player for about half the price.

Looking around the league, i think Arnott could be a good fit at a reasonable price. Sure Malone and Penner would be ideal...but they would cost alot to acquire and im not sure how the Habs fit them in under next years cap assuming Kostitsyn stays.

Well your offer of Kostysn and a mid to low end prospect for Penner certainly made me think of wee wee.
