Zenon is probably derived from Xenon or Xenophon

Would Miettinen work? Also, who would we have to give up to get him?

Just have a greek name, i'm a mutt Its just a ***** when an instructor/doctor/nurse tries to pronounce it, very rarely do they succeed.

I really like the thought of bringing upshall in for a cup run, his cap hit is fairly low for the rest of the year and he would be great on the wing with ritchie and add some more grit and speed. Also he has a good relashionship with the players here, I just know he would be battling to help bring the cup home

I get the impression he's overvalued (similar to Umberger) and we'd have to pay out the ass. At least that's what the fanbases seem to project.

I would like it too. But I just think the asking price is to much.

Maybe Phoenix still values Carcillo higher the Upshall?

this would also be a decent pickup, although he really got under the skin of the players here in last years final.... dont know if he would be welcome with open arms in the dressing room right away

They really only have Hartnell in their top 9 to provide some size and grit. Most the the forwards are 6' or under and 190lbs if that. Their bigger forward (JVR, Carter, Leino) aren't very physical.

Someone like Winchester wouldn't be much of an upgrade over Nodl or Carcillo for production but he add size and grit (6'2 215lbs) plus he doesn't have the bull's eye on his back with the refs like Carcillo.

What? Scott Hartnell cracks the top 9 on every single team in the league. Every single one.

Some package of Carle + 3rd or Carcillo or something.

Toronto gets a puck moving D for another year, while their prospects develop. We upgrade our D for the playoffs and open some cap space for next year.
Kaberle is NOT an upgrade over Carle. And the Leafs couldn't get anything better for him at last year's draft than a 3rd line winger or a 2nd round pick, why the heck would we trade two good players for old, soft Leaf compost?

ya coyotes probably would be asking for something fairly significant in return, however I cant see scotty wanting to sign there after this year, so maybe they will be forced to acquire something for him.... although I could be wrong and he could really like it there which is very possible considering all the youth they have

Kopecky would be welcomed with open arms, but there is no way Chicago would trade him - and who would we give them for him?

Who said he wouldn't?
I said he is the only one in the Flyer's top 9 that has size and grit. The Flyers need to add another Hartnell type to their top 9. The playoffs are just as much about attrition as it is talent so they need another guy to wear down another team's d over a long series.

Nodl has good size and hits well, Carter and JVR are big. Zherdev has decent size and Richards is the best hitter of the lot.

I agree that a big guy like Glencross or Eric Nystrom or Taylor Pyatt would be nice to add. Not necessarily them, but someone like them.

Pyatt and Glencross are on teams in the thick of it so I doubt they are moved but I know what you mean.

Nodl has good size but if this lost Hartnell their top 9 becomes very small and somewhat soft. They have some guys with size and Richards lays some big hits but they have n one built to make a living in bad places. Especially when you consider that teams will be looking to add at the deadline to counter the Flyers as the top team.

BOS and WAS are already huge on D. TB and the Rags will probably look to add someone like Phillips or McCabe.

Personal feelings aside, what about Chris Neil? If things don't work out, deal him away in the off-season.

Things better work out, because this organization wants to win the Cup this season.
Neil is not the answer, he's not good enough to make our top9 better.
We need someone who's better than Nodl skill-wise while also adding size and grit.

Glencross or Cole still sound great. Stillman is not super-big and on the old side, but he has the playoff experience and still 20-25 goals.

Are Svatos and Lombardi still injured? Will either of them be back before the deadline?
