Where does PK rank amongst the league's best hitters?

I was on NHL.COM today and checked out their video for the best hits of the year. Out of about ten hits, four were PK. I don't think he is the most consistent or relentless hitter, but I feel he is among the top 3 in the league when it comes to clean, open ice hits. Opinions?

Not even close to top 10. You see skilled guys like doughty and PK add a physical element to their game and it catches people off guard, but they aren't close to heavy hitters.

He's a good hitter, terrible fighter. I'd say he should at least cut top 30.

he makes some highlight reel hits, but mostly because he's got the swagger and size to go for them when the opportunity comes rather than him being a hard hitter

he reminds me of Boullion's hitting for some reason... you dont expect to get hit hard but he trainwrecks you if you're not ready. Wish he would hit as often as he did tho (yes he can be a little more physical, imo).

You don't need to be a heavy hitter to be one of the best hitters. Laraque was a heavy hitter but he couldn't catch an opponent to hit him.

PK and Doughty are great hitters because they catch people off guard and time their hits well. To me, those are what I consider great hitters.

Wouldn't call PK and Doughty top 10 hitters though, but as they keep growing and improving, I certainly see them become quite effective at it.

PK has tremendous lateral movement and foot speed. He closes down on open spaces really quickly.

Hmm, I'm wondering who's the number one...

Anyways, back to the question, I'd say he is in top 75. He will obviously improve in the future.

I agree with the comments. I just threw "top 3" in there to see if anyone would freak haha. There are so many parts to PK's game. He is highly skilled in every area. Its all a matter of putting it together and doing it consistently. We have a serious player on our hands and it gets me excited! lol

Once PK realizes his size and strength mixed with a mean streak, watch out! Can't wait to see this kid in five years.

His open ice hits are like eveything else he does, spectacular!! He isnt the biggest guy out there but his timing is so perfect that the impact looks huge most of the time..

Its like he watched some Kasparitis 'how to hit down low' video. He's nowhere near the best, have a look at Tootoo destroying people.

as long as no one mentions him as a potential future captain of the habs like some other ex-habs around the league we should be fine.
