Canucks fan here with a question.

I'm just watching the Caps game on TSN and I noticed John Carlson is wearing the number 74. I know he came in to the league wearing 74 but I thought for sure he switched to the number 6 recently. Did he switch back to 74 or am I just losing it?

Knuble with the goal! What a pretty play!

And an assist for Perreault...yet another 2 point call-up game.

He never changed it. His favorite # is 11, which is retired by the Caps, so 74 (7+4) is the closest he'll get, and he's sticking with it.

Caps haven't had a #6 since Heward.

Carlson hasn't worn 6 since he was drafted.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I don't know what made me think he switched numbers.

I'd still like to see the penalty called on knuble because it looked to me like the Canadian tripped over knubles stick when he had the puck on it.

Alzner had switched numbers, but that was from 47 to 27 (and that was 2 years ago, IINM). Can't think of any other Caps that have changed numbers in several years (Steckel from 25 to 39 was 3 or 4 years ago).

When is the last time that the caps scored 2 in the first period? I'm thinking it's got to be 30+ games.

Last time they played the Habs, game before the Winter Classic. Surprisingly recent.

Fleischmann 43->14, Varlamov 40->1.

Hmm, way more recent than I thought but still even scoring 1 is an improvement. Let's get some more and than clamp down. Still I doubt we've scored more than 1 goal in the first period more than 5 times this year

Ah, right. Also, Fehr 14->16. Not sure why those slipped my mind so easily (well, Flash being gone I guess but the others...)

I liked it better when 27 never got penalties.
