Nice step-up by Robidas at center to force an icing.

Canucks defense is absolutely stifling right now. There's support everywhere and no open ice to get through.

The Vancouver Canucks, bringing back the neutral zone trap and counterattack.

Wow, that is embarrassing Daley.

Woywitka also sucked back in the offensive zone. He's been terrible all night.

No offense but why would the Canucks trade chances or play run and gun with 5 rookies in the lineup and a two goal lead in the 3rd period? It seems like on HF smart, defensively responsible hockey = the trap. Do you expect them to trade chances with the Stars?

It's the trap because it's a trap. They're running one forechecker who stopped between the circles and their entire neutral zone system is a four-person zone designed to force to the boards. That's the definition of a neutral zone trap.

I have no problems with the trap. If it works, then it works and there's absolutely no reason not to use it.

Contrast that with teams like Detroit who tend to run two-three forecheckers all the time, even with the lead.

Next game in Boston then Philly. I sense a 3 game losing streak coming up. I guess we should be thankful that LA and NSH each only got 1 point.

The Canucks aren't a trapping team, but they do play the trap in certain situations like every other team in the league. The Canucks, like the Red Wings, are a puck possession team. They also are third in the league in goals per game.

It's funny that you mention Detroit because our coach has said on numerous occasions that the Canucks run the exact same system as them with minor tweaks. What you said about the Wings is patently false by the way. If you can show me video of the Wings sending in two-three forecheckers in with a two goal lead in the 3rd period I'd love to see it.

Every single team plays a passive, low risk system when they have a comfortable lead, even your Stars, I've seen them do it numerous times. If you want to call it the trap fine, every team in the NHL plays the trap by your definition, including your Stars. Canucks have one of the more aggressive forechecks in the league and activate their defense far more than the Stars appear to do. This is why they have been amongst the highest scoring teams in the NHL for the past few seasons.

Anyway, I'm not here to troll so I'll let you have the last word, I just think the term "trap" has become a crutch for people on HF when their team falls behind. I hate it when my fan base does it too.

It doesn't matter whom we face in the playoffs. Every team that is currently in the top 8 has a better defensive corps than us, and there's only so much Kari can do. Expect a 1st round exit.
