Its just bizarre and childish that Brodeur would bring up the Rangers of a decade ago for no reason at all - especially considering hes quite clearly on the downside of his career and both organizations are trending in different directions in the past.

With that said, the guy is still an all-time great, but the word overrated certainly does apply to him. He may have the greatest gaudy numbers of all-time, but hes not the greatest of all-time - not by a longshot.

The Rangers are a lot closer, as an organization, to winning another.
1 every ~11.7 years or 1 every ~21.4 years? I take the former.

You do realize there were 6 teams in the NHL for the Rangers first 3 cups, right?

It has always been a great source of disappointment to me that we Ranger fans never developed a great, permanent chant to use against Brodeur regarding his sister in law. When you really think about it, it is the ultimate piece of information. The beat your wife Potvin thing went on for years, buy a Porsche Hextall was another classic. How did we let this go? Seriously how? We should be chanting something about his sister in law every time that POS shows his face in the Garden. This had so much potential to be the next epic Ranger chant and it just died on the vine. So sad.

Seems a little bitter at the end of career? What bearing does the ranger squads of 97-04 (rangers DID QUALIFY FOR THE POST SEASON IN 05-06) have on the team and goalie that has been beating him soundly for past 3-4 seasons?

It must be hard to see his franchise abandon the principles that helped them achieve a level of sucess while his cross river rivals are going in an opposite direction.
The guy is a jerk. It's wonderful that his skills are eroding along with his team and franchise. well deserved.

Brodeur, eh? I think I've heard of this guy.

Quote:
Plaintiff soon began to suspect that her husband was having an affair with her brother's wife. In the summer of 2002, she confronted defendant about her suspicions; both defendant and her sister-in-law denied having an affair, and plaintiff had no reason to disbelieve them. She allowed her brother and sister-in-law to remain living with them. On December 24, 2002, however, defendant admitted to having an adulterous relationship with his sister-in-law. When, on December 28, 2002, plaintiff learned that the affair was continuing, she removed defendant's belongings from the marital home and asked him to leave. He stayed in hotels and then an apartment for the first few months of 2003.

. . .

Sleeping with your sister-in-law and refusing to stop after discovered? -- $6,850,000 in equitable distribution. $287,494 in retirement benefits. Alimony of $500,000 per year until 2020. $132,112.32 per year plus 87% of the costs for the children's private schools, camps, and transportation for parenting time.

Letting in 2 goals in a minute to lose Game 7 versus the Canes? -- Priceless.

I hear sympathy (7 years of failure must be a horrible and unimaginable fate)

and

giving us credit (they are making it now) for finally turning things around.

We feel fortunate. We had a great run.
Throwing in the towel? I have never seen a great in any sport admit defeat so easily and frequently as Brodeur does. Just like when he was ready to throw the towel in 4 weeks ago and himself name Hedberg the co-starter:

Quote:
"I don't deserve to be in there when you don't win," Brodeur told the Newark Star-Ledger. "That's the bottom line. I've been winning all my career and now it's been a little tougher. So it's normal. If this works, good. It helps out the team."
10 more losses for Brodeur and he becomes the losingest goalie of all time.

The Rangers missing the playoffs for 7 years is in the rear view mirror. It's irrelevant. It has zero to do with the current Rangers. No need to mention it.
But I'm sure he would give anything, if you inject 'truth serum' in him, to have played his career with the Rangers instead of the JV of NY sports teams.

He stated an absolute fact, but what an utterly douchie thing to say. No one mentioned the Rangers, it wasn't a Ranger fan asking the question. It's wildly immature to respond like this. He's a primadona.

He's so obsessed with our 7 years, too bad the Devils didn't pay attention to why we missed the playoffs: Overrated Free Agents, over the hill vets, crappy farm system, irrelevant coaches. He spent all those years wishing he could have gotten everything that the Rangers got, well now his wish is coming true.

I never really knew the whole story there - pretty bad stuff. Coming clean to the affair on Christmas Eve is a nice cherry on top. Merry Christmas!

The other thing I learned is if you make any kind of money and get divorced, you basically get screwed. I knew it was the case, but when you read the particular's it seems a bit out of control. If I was Brodeur I would take the 'home town discount' too so the ex-wife doesn't benefit anymore than she already does.

Well sure Marty has a point, but i will say that the Rangers were 1 guy away for most of those years and that was a goalie. If they had a goalie they would have been in the playoffs in those years. I also feel the Rangers have had a more competetive team than NJ in the last few years or post lock-out, just look at the head-to-head. Further i think the Rangers will be better in the next few years, besides this is the NHL we dont live in the past Marty, its the hear and now, nobodey cares what u did a year or ago. They will give u more of a chance but sooner or later even Marty will be bood out of town, sad but true.

I'll take the team on the rise. Not the team about to post one of the worst seasons in the modern era.
