hemsky to washington

I know its highly unlikely, caps are close to the cap, they'd have to give up roster player/players to get under the cap....

what else do you think they would have to add?

I also know thats there is no reason for either team to do it. I dont think the caps are interest in hemsky either.

Im just wondering what it would take for washington to aquire hemsky.

if hemsky could stay healthy i think that the caps would have an unreal top 6.

Washington:

Hemsky

Edmonton:

????

you finish the rest

let me know what you think

Fehr, Perreault, and a late round pick

That's pretty fair

I doubt that would be nearly enough.

I would imagine something like Fehr/Alzner and a 1st might be a starting point for the Oilers.

The Oilers probably aren't looking to dump Hemsky for $0.60 on the dollar.

Not the best trading partners IMO.

If I were the Oilers I would want Semin back. Hemsky +Backstrom+ Ovechkin=OMG

I would be willing to throw in either Brule/Cogs/Jones/Fraser

Hemsky @4.1million next year > Semin @6 million next year

I don't think the Caps are even going to consider trading Alzner. He's the type of player they have been looking for, for a long time.

Edmonton would ask for Alzner and Washington would look elsewhere.

Screw alzner we want Semin, then we could trade Penner him for our defence man from the Kings.

Washington should somehow figure out how to get Hemsky, Penner, and Horcoff for Semin + 1st + whatever.

Not sure if you were serious, but for Semin + first I would give up Penner + Hemsky pretty quickly, which makes me think washington might not bite.

Sounds like more of a draft day trade, especially due to salary cap reasons.

Alzner is a complete non-starter for us for any player of yours aside from Hall. He is that important, sorry. Most non-caps fans don't realize just how important he is.

Hemsky has no real place in our top 6. Would Smid + 3rd for Schultz + 1st be of any interest to you?

So the Oilers should trade their entire first line + Captain and Assistant for a Russian winger on a one year contract... No thanks!

It's hard to pick anyone of interest for the Oilers on Washinton, obviously Semin would be, but it's not a realistic trade for either side. I'd love Carlson or Alzner, but that's an unfair trade on Washington's side. Unfortunately at this point these two teams are pretty bad trading partners/the Oilers could get more for Hemsky than what Washington will realistically give up.

How has Smid looked this year? I remember last year he was exceptional on an otherwise brutal team and had some solid defense in addition to a very nice mean streak going.

It doesn't make sense for Wsh to give up the better player to a lottery team. It also doesn't make sense for the lottery team to deal futures (it'd have to be better then those players you'd be "willing to throw in") to upgrade a position for the following year.

Semin > Hemsky. Caps aren't cap strapped next year.

Ya and anything with 5 foot 8 Perreault is a no go. But seriously Alzner or Schultz is the type of Defenceman the oil lack!

Definetly not near the level he was on last year but still a very solid player. Him and Schultz are in similar situations right now. Both players have loads of potential as shutdown guys for the future but have had there struggles after good seasons last year.
