reality unfortunately is that a 4-1 win is more likely than snapping out of the doldrums.
to me it seems as much of a confidence issue as anything else, if they can string 3 or 4 good games (with wins) together maybe they can get their swagger back...
I would like to see us try an abrasive approach. Finesse and trapping havent done dick for months. Be aggressive. We have a strong PK, lets not be afraid to use it, and Varly, who is among the league leaders in G stats.
Someone has to change the game for us, since it seems Bruce is running out of options. Back in the day, Dale would bump the G, touch off a massive brawl, half the teams best players crammed into the penalty box, and we would usually get a PP out of it. Change the Mo. At least try something. Its worth a shot. This ice capades crap is boring, ineffective, and is going to make their own heads roll.
Otherwise, expect another low scoring boring OTL. We can't hit the scoring switch. Its not happening.
Was considering going to this one, but then came to my senses... Why? To frustrate yourself with another 1-0, 2-1 loss in OT? There are many other (better) ways to waste 200 -300 bucks on Friday night then this version of Washington Capitals.

I would like us to start the game with a bang. Put out the hendricks and the grinders and have a fight and more importantly run Roloson. We havent scored on him in 2 games so lets crash him and see if we can get him off his game. Who cares if we go to the box, we have a great PK now so lets flex our muscles and beat up tampa a little.

Its not Bruce's thing, its usually on the captain or players to put the foot down and say, I have had enough. Other players follow suit. My dark horse candidate to do it, Brooks Laich who I had thought was maybe a more natural captain than Ovi. Its time for a captain type to do his thing.
Another option, just make Tampa think that we will. They are built of the mold that we can take advantage of it. Announce our starters as the goon line, King Hendricks Bradley. Have them come out playing hard but clean. See if they cant goad a Light into a dumb penalty. Make Tampa think. Too bad we dont have a goon to call up from Hershey. There is no risk in at least trying a wussy ass stunt like that.
We can lose tonight, but I dont want to see a tampa player smiling afterwards.
its going to be packed tonight at st pete times forum. since a full house of caps fans had to sit thru a 0-0 regulation and a 1-0 otl, proper response would be a goal from erskin, alzner, schultz or hanna in the first minute of play and then nothing else.
i think the actual result wont be much more exciting. best case scenario caps win 2-1.

He and the Lightning have been off since Tuesday, when he shut out the Flyers.
Is the praise maybe getting a little nutty? Sure, but Roloson has been damned good just the same. That's without great defense personnel or stellar team defense either.

winning 3 or 4 in a row on the backs of hendricks and beagle or whoever it wont really fix anything. it helps them keep up, but it doesnt fix anything.
if semin scores 2 and ov shoots one clean past roloson on the pp, that might help.
