3rd line center, thats where Habs need him and that why he was traded for. Besides, afaik, hes played 99% of his career as a center.

3rd line... but he'll receive more ice-time than Mike Ribeiro and he'll play on the first PP unit.

start as 3rd line centre and then move to 2nd line centre.
We need a big centre on top 3 line.
A big 3rd line centre is easy to come by. Bonk is capable to play on 2nd line.

I triple that.

If Ribeiro comes into training camp in as good or better of a shape than last season he'll get just as much ice time and will produce at the same pace than he did last season. But if he sits on his bacon this summer, Bonk will be quick to steal his place as 2nd line center IMO.

3rd line C.

Also on the pk and pp unit. Imagine our pp unit..............

Zednik, Koivu, Kovalev
Bonk, Ribs, Ryder

He can also fill in for Koivu is he gets injured, as he did play a first line C role in Ottawa.

So to answer your question, he fits into so many different areas its not even funny. A very versatile player.

I like it!

I don't know what is going to be "2nd" and what is "3rd" anymore. I love the idea of a Bulis-Bonk duo (maybe with Higgins or even Sundstrom if he returns or somebody else as a great multi-purpose smother line) and then the Ribs-Ryder duo may not have as much responsibility, but will score more. Either way, it looks nice. And it's good insurance just in case Koivu has another injury episode.

I think Bonk's position will depend of wether on not Gainey brings back Kovalev. I'm still thinking that there is a better than 50% chance that Kovalev will be back, so....

Zednik, Kovalev and Koivu would start off the year on the top line.

Bonk, Ryder and Ribeiro will make up the second line.

3rd line center to start, though I imigine they'll move him around a bit just to see where he fits in best.

Yeah, right. Julien is hardly known for moving his big name new acquisitions around to see where they fit in best. Take Kovalev for example...

... Good point!

I think Bonk and Bullis make a lot of sense together and compliment each other well.Bullis' speed will be important. I wouldn't be shocked to see either Plekanec or Higgins play on their line. Both are creative and defensively responsible from all I've seen and read. Could be a nice way to break in whichever of the 2 wins the job.

I chose 3rd line centre, but really I think he'll be the centre of our top checking/two-way line. That may get more ice-time than our 2nd scoring line though, so I'm not sure if you'd call it the 3rd line or not.

....I think the only way he will produce is on the 2nd line with ribs and ryder, but im not sure how he would make out on the wing....it kinda leaves dagenais out of the mix unless he starts using his body more like he did in the playoffs......i'd like to see bonk on the second line, but i think he will center the third line with bulis and one of the young guys...... ie: hossa perizhogan higgins .....who knows maybe even kastitsyn ..... either way its a good pick up for the habs!!!

I don't know what all this talk is about...BG obvisouly acquired Bonk to play center, it's up to people like us to discuss whether or not he's on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line...he's going to be our matchup center, so if you want to play lines, well IMO...

Zednik-Koivu-Kovalev (or Perezhogin if Kovalev doesn't resign)
Hossa-Ribeiro-Ryder
Bulis-Bonk-Ward
UFA goon-Bégin-Laperrière
Dagenais-Plekanec

Markov-Komisarek
Souray-Brisebois
Hainsey-Rivet
Beachemin

Theo-Huet

I'm not sure if Sundstrom will be back, so he might be added to the mix as well, if Kovalev does come back, the Habs are going to be a team to be reckoned with next year instead of the following one
