Marty Brodeur to Caps

Ok i know his play has picked up but he is still a hell of a goalie and Jersey has no chance at the playoffs (unless they win every game left which would still not give them 50 wins)

But something like

Brodeur + Clarkson (overated)

For

Kuznetsov + Orlov

See Brodeur is a hall of famer

Kuznetsov will help

Thoughts?

Why would the Caps do this? Wouldn't they be much better off just riding the young goalies they have?

Brodeur will never be traded.

And Kuznetsov is not available.

So this makes no sense.

Brodeur won't waive his NTC, nor would the Devils even consider trading him unless he requested it.

So wait a minute, here.

The Capitals are expected to add an aging goalie to the team who will replace one of two young players playing very, very well, and the Capitals will give up two of their most talented, most anticipated prospects?

Where do I sign?

Brodeur isn't worth half of that. I don't care about his accomplishments... He's old and he's a goalie.

Only way Brodeur will be traded is if we are out of the playoffs by next seasons trade deadline and he wants another shot at a Cup before his contract expires.

Even then I highly doubt it happens. He is a Devil for life.

Awful. Caps wouldn't create a package for either one for him let alone both.

Semyon Varlamov:

4th in the NHL in GAA.

3rd in SV%.

Caps don't need a goalie.

And I agree with the Caps fans, Brodeur is not worth that much at his old age.

You might get a 2nd round pick for him but I would rather keep his legacy.

Marty's value isn't high nor is any goalies over the age of 28 in this day in age NHL.

That said.

In a vacuum, that's probably fair value. That being said, if we traded him for a 2nd round pick I would projectile vomit all over McCarter Highway.

This won't happen. At all. No way Marty plays for any other team than the Devils. And there's no way Lou even begins to think about approaching Marty to ask him to waive his NTC.

Given that it's Newark, would anyone think that's particularly out of the ordinary?
