45 minutes of slumber is no way to win on the road

The Good -

- Myers with some physical play... (but that one was a penalty)
- Scoring first.
- Grier and Morrisonn bringing the body.

The Bad -

- Show the **** up in the 2nd period and they might get a point.
- Burning a "game in hand". Matter not if they don't get points.
- Connolly lacks on the backcheck and the rebound goes in off him. And for that he gets a reward late in the game replacing Byron.

The Ugly -

- The officiating was particularly one sided. Embarrassingly so.
- When Niedermayer-Gaustad-Grier carry the offense, they're going to lose.

same as it ever was:

- not showing up for 60 minutes.
- can't finish to save their lives.

The Good:
-I liked Gaustad a lot tonight. Best game I've seen from him in awhile.
-Grier showed some signs of life
-Byron didn't look lost out there in this fast-paced game, which was good
-Myers was good and I liked him showing his physical side
-Weber's physicality, especially on Geno.
-Morrisonn's hit
-Ennis except for...

The Bad:
-...his finishing ability
-Connolly's still a schmuck
-Would've like to have seen more from Vanek and Pommer

The Ugly:
-The 2nd period. They were ****.
-Cooke
-The officiating was a joke. Those Pens announcers can go shove it.

Good, 1st period and end of the 3rd.

Bad: Our best players we're still on all star break.

Connolly, i don't know if he is close to 100% but even if i like him, he sucks badly tonight and provide no offense since the start of 2011. We need 2009 2nd half and last year's regular season's play from him because right now he is useless.

Ugly. As usual vs Pens, we got all the calls but not them and for that, **** you refs and **** you Pens, you're about to step up in front of the Habs and Sens on my hate list !!!

And at least a good new, we play the Leafs tomorrow

The Sabres played a terrible game against both the officials and a top 5 team in the league and lost by a goal.

Eh.

Leafs tomorrow.

You know why we lost tonight? You know who isn't in the lineup?

You can't blame Connolly for that one. What's he supposed to do? He had the guy nicely tied up. Pucks go in off skates. It happens.

The Ugly: Tyler Kennedy's pig snout. He must have flared his nostrils so much as a kid that eventually they just stayed that way.

That is all.

Good:
Stafford

Bad:
Miller (weak 2 goals)
Vanek (terrible, just terrible)
chemistry amongst the lines
the rest of the roster

Ugly:
No chemistry and zero use of any skill these players had for 40 minutes of hockey.
Just pathetic.

I hate the Penguins. Why am I not surprised to hear the reffing was one-sided?

The Steelers better lose on Sunday. It pisses me off how spoiled some cities are with major championships.

The Ironic

Mind you guys, I live in Connecticut; so after the 2nd period I decided to go bowling with some friends towards the center of the state. When I get there, first thing I see is a kid wearing a Malkin Penguins shirt. 5 minutes later I'm looking around in the bar, and no joke, this guy is wearing the new blue Tyler Myers jersey! I just thought that was kinda strange, when just less than a couple hours prior I saw Myers take out Malkin in the corner in the game on "TV." I was soooo tempted to try and convince the 2 of them to stand together for a crazy photo op, but oh well.....

And yeah, sucks they lost tonight. Guess I didn't miss much in the 3rd.

There are FAR too many games where our top offensive players don't show up to play. This is getting ****ing ridiculous. If you look around the league, almost EVERY single other team has at least one or two players who manage to get on the scoresheet almost every game. We don't have a single player on our team like that. It's ****ing sad.

I didn't watch the game tonight, but I don't need to. I've seen this **** already hundreds of times from this team. Tim Connolly is a ****ing lost cause. Stuff him in a box and ship him off to Europe, that's where he's gonna end up next year anyway, no team is gonna wanna sign him.

Even though we've been one of the more consistent teams in the East lately, we've actually dropped a spot in the standings. Something HAS to give. It's like there isn't a single team in the league who is playing poorly right now (maybe Ottawa, but that's it).

Oh yeah, and Vanek is currently 40th in the league in points with 41. He's tied with 3 defensemen and a 2nd line player, as well as Franzen, but he shouldn't count since he has almost twice as many goals. Not to mention he's one of the worst in the league for +/- as well. This is the guy who is supposed to be our leader on offense. Good grief.

Why are you posting in this thread?

G:

Myers hitting
Weber
Grier/Gaustad/Nieds Never thought I'd see them score two in one night
Miller had some big saves
Morrissonn He isn't the best defenseman, but when he uses his body effectively he really makes up for it

B:
Vanek/Connolly Too weak on the puck
Byron Couldn't seem to keep the puck on his stick
McCormick Did he play tonight? Hopefully he took some notes on the bench on how to be an effective grinder in the nhl
Miller had some bad goals
Our "goalscorers"

U:

Refs/Cooke

God forbid somebody posts their opinions on a message board.

We normally don't have a Post Game Talk thread, so this is the closest thing to it.

Believe it or not I actually do watch hockey, and watch this team regularly (even when they play like ****). I just couldn't see the game tonight, and probably won't be able to see the game tomorrow either.

I honestly can't explain why I'm still a fan of this team, but I am. I still try and watch the games whenever I can.

The point is why are you posting in the post-game thread, when you didn't watch the game?

What insight could you possibly have on tonight's game?

The fact that this game shows how our top offensive players are inconsistent, and how even though our team has played fairly well over the past 10-15 games, we technically dropped in the standings. Those aren't insights about the particular game, but it has something to do with the game.

The idea that we've "technically dropped in the standings" is a joke. Typical manipulation to be as pessimistic and negative as possible about the Sabres.

And how do you know what kind of game our top players played, without actually watching the game. At best, you're going off of 2nd hand information (ie hearsay).

I didn't watch the game, but they all suck and should be waived and/or traded.
Everyone in the front office should be fired or thrown of a bridge.
Move the team to Las Vegas.
