Damn you, Islanders. We could've had Nabokov right now.
I don't think Sateri can come over from Europe for the same reasons that Greiss can't.

****, we need an AHL tender. Anyone think DW will try and get Griess back through waivers? No harm in trying, after all he's been banished by the DW and can't be that high on our list of goaltender succession planning, if we lose him we're doing him a favor of getting picked up by another team where he might have a future. We'd not get anything for him, i don't think he was worth much anyway.
So wait, now i am confused, could we recall Greiss? Not that we would for political reasons, but waiver wise?
He can come over to the AHL, but may have to pass waivers to play in NHL. KDB says the CBA is ambiguous about clearing waivers to play in NHL in this situation.

He would not be subject to Waivers under the 13.23 (the Nabby rule) - that exempts players on loan from their team.
The wording of Article 50.9(g) is ambiguous whether he would be subject to Re-Entry Waivers.

So, as Greiss and Sateri are on loans, they don't have to pass through "European waivers" to play in North America.
Now, Greiss would be subject to recall-waivers AIUI to come back to NHL (unless it's after the NHL season). Sateri is currently exempt from (regular and recall) waivers.
Al Montoya from the Yotes, experienced AHL tender buried probably looking for an opportunity to start - he should have something to prove. Can start at the AHL level and even be up for an NHL start or backup. Should be cheap and he's an RFA after this season.
More likely they'll call Sateri and/or Greiss back from Europe to work in AHL.
The Sharks are at 49 active NHL contracts (max 50), so would need to trade a "not currently available" prospect (e.g., Sateri, Greiss, Heemskerk) or other contract; or do a multi-for-less contract swap.
