Toronto-NJ

To Toronto: Jason Arnott, 3rd round pick
To NJ: Ben Scrivens, Tyler Bozak

Arnott gives Kessel a big center who does all the grunt work. Add Kulemin to that line for his playmaking abilitys and chemistry with Kessel. Play a 2nd line of Mac-Grabo-Versteeg.

NJ gets a possible future goal tender and a roster player who best suites 2b 3a role on a decent contender.

First proposal in a while, flame away!

As a leafs fan I'd do it. We need some size, and leadership up front. But I'd rather put Versteeg with Kessel and Arnott, and leave Kule, Grabo and Macarthur together.

EDIT: Never mind, I think Arnott's a UFA this offseason, and I doubt he'd re-sign to spend the last years of his career with a losing team.

while I think it's an ok proposal, there have been way worse a couple of things pop out at me with these two teams

both are at similar place's in the standings
arnott has a no move, does he waive to move two spots and still be out of the playoffs?

Does lou trade anything to the leafs to help them after burke testified against him in the Kovy hearings on behalf of the NHL?

This trade, though I see it as fair, doesnt benefit either team. Arnott is NOT what the Laffs need at this point and trading Bozak is a problem with the lack of talent down the middle. Bozak would be a good fit in NJ though.

I just thought of the chemistry between Kessel and Kulemin last year with tiny Bozak and reasons for Versteeg to play with Grabo is to set him up for his one timers on the half board. Either way makes sence and is an improvment from bozak and ..... crabb... never thoguht i'd see the day Leafs would play Crabb on a line with Kessel makes me wanna vomit every time I watch him step onto ice, Same as Boyce but atleast Boyce is pretty consistant and gives energy to his line.

As a Cornell alum, I would love to have Scrivens in the Devils' system. But this trade doesn't make sense for the Leafs, because Arnott is a pending UFA. That said, I'd still do it.

Why on earth would Toronto do this? Not only is Arnott a UFA, but he is also done. He is not a 1-2 center anymore, not even close

terrible for the leafs. arnott is old and doesn't fit with the team.. He's also a pending UFA and his production is no where near what it used to be. PASS

Toronto is not looking to give up their young future 3rd line center and a very good goalie prospect for a 36 year old. Adding a 3rd rounder doesn't change that.

Horrible trade, need Scrivens next year for depth as Giggy is gone and we're giving up a promising young player for a rental about to retire.

Toronto isn't shopping for rentals, especially of Arnott's age. The only rental they should even consider going after is a guy like Brooks Laich because it gives them a leg up in signing him.

New Jersey can and will do better trading Arnott elsewhere.

Well 99% of leafs fans are impatient and want to win now he would open up the ice for Kessel and its fair value right now, maybe not down the road but who knows how far Bozak will develop same goes for Scrivens he may not be anything its a risk u gotta take

Not a good proposal for the simple fact it ignores the Leafs are a team dumping players - not one picking up 35 year UFA.

Bozak is 24 and needs time to grow.

Thankfully Burke would never trade a kid that can play for him for the next 8 years for 6 months of a struggling veteran.

Arnott and a 3rd is not anywhere near fair value. Toronto doesn't have to risk anything.

Those 99% should realize that the playoffs are most likely not within reach this year, and that trading for players who cannot be part of the future makes absolutely no sense.
